What things can't you compromise on?

I'll give most things a chance but won't compromise on:
Branston beans
Birds Eye peas
Kenco decaffinated coffee (always wait for offer)
Twinings decaffinated tea bags (always wait for offer)
Weetabix
Cravendale milk (I think it is sooooo much nicer than any other milk)
free range chicken and eggs
Andrex
Pedigree Pouches dog food
That's about it really - I'll try anything and have to say that some of the lower priced own label products are much nicer IMO - particularly Aldi jaffa cakes which are sublime.Jane

But I see where you're coming from...
Ahh well not worthwhile for you then. Shame though as you can really experiment. I think my faves are pork and fresh apple, but pork and tomato are scrummy as well. I don't experiment half as much as I should....
Good luck with getting a KC. I've seen them turn up at car boot sales for under a tenner so keep a look out0 -
No buts it has to be butter Lurpak to be precise.
As i get older quality matters a lot more i find.WHOOOOSHHHHHHHHH……..
Blimey what was that ?
That was your life mate
Oh I wasn’t quite ready can I have another go ?
Sorry mate only one per person.0 -
Good to see lots of people have discovered that supermarket meat is usually not great and a decent local butcher (if you are lucky enough to have one) or some of the online suppliers are much better. While convenient for dry goods, loo roll, etc I try to avoid supermarkets for meat, fish, some cheese and most fruit and veg as local butcher, online farm shops, farmers market, cheesemonger and local organic veg box scheme are all better quality and usually similar in price, in fact sometimes cheaper but I don't mind paying a bit more for much better quality if necessary.
So I won't compromise on: proper coffee, loose leaf tea, decent meat and fish, milk (always get organic and Scottish), butter (never margarine, yuck), and would not buy many value items, particularly cheese (what's the point of value mild cheddar - tasteless!) and tinned toms (M&S ones are the best I have tried with Napolina second best)."The happiest of people don't necessarily have the
best of everything; they just make the best
of everything that comes along their way."

I hate cheap tea and I don't like cheap toilet roll.
Anything else I'm not really fussed.0 -
I can't compromise on facial care either - I use Clinique - although it works out much cheaper than a lot of other brands in the long run.
I can't compromise on meat, either. I'm a veggie but Sir isn't. I've bought cheap meat and it's rank - full of fat, smells revolting when it's being cooked, probably tastes funny too.0 -
I've been brought up using cheapy products, so very few problems for me.
Can't use anything else to wash my hands with other than Dove - else my hands feel all dry and nasty (but then 2 bars for £1, and they last a decent amount of time)
I Can't Believe It's Not Butter - we love the taste, OH uses it to make the most fantatic cakes I've ever tasted, and it's perfect for frying in.
Theramed toothpaste - I don't like white/chalky toothpastes.
Apart from that, I'm a total philistine! I don't notice much difference with cheap cola, shampoo (and I dye my hair, yet wilko's own brand brings it to a perfect shine) etc.
I have to say though, I do buy free range eggs (they're 10p more for a box of six at the local shop, so it doesn't make too much difference), and Andrex toilet paper (OH uses the cheap stuff like it's going out of fashion!)In a better financial position than ever before (thank you MSE!). Moved back to Scotland and now trying to keep debt-free!0 -
I am not keen on cheap coke/lemonade, but as they aren't an essential I figure I'll do without the expensive alternatives! A0

PG Tips
FR Eggs
Proper Diet Coke
Good sausages
Biore skincare stuff
Schwepps Lemonade (although I tend to only get it on offer)
Ariel liquitabs
Other than that i'm pretty open to anything. My hair responds well to any shampoo and i'm quite happy with cheap beans, tommy sauce, and tinned items.0 -

Uncle Bens rice (not sure if it's the way I cook it but everything else ends up like a gloopy mess)
I am a big fusspot!
Uncle Ben's is parboiled rice, I use the parboiled rice in Lidl (yellow box)and find no difference to Uncle Ben's at a fraction of the cost.Penny xxx
Old age isn't bad when you consider the alternative.0
