I always used Tesco Value pasta - it was much cheaper, and there was no point paying extra for such a basic foodstuff.

These days I'll only eat wholewheat though

I must admit that pasta is one thing I never scrimp on. I love pasta and I often have it very simply with a knob of butter and some parmesan or with pesto and I can really taste the difference between a good quality pasta and a lesser quality one.

I always go for the 100% durum wheat ones, and even better if I can get "proper" dried pasta that is matte and slightly rough to to touch - its more expensive but it has a great flavour and if you're having it with a sauce then the sauce sticks to it so much better than the ordinary shiney ones!). If I have the time I actually make my own spaghetti, tagliatelle and fettucini which tastes fab. I actually splashed out on some Lasagnotte from a local deli the other day and I can't wait to try it - I just have to think of a sauce to do it justice first as I can't afford to buy it every week!
