I don't eat a lot of salt. Because of this it tastes very strong, so for the few things I like salt in I find a little goes a long way.

Some recipes do need salt, breads and doughs seem to need it because it has some effect on the yeast. I don't think it matters that much however, a teaspoon in a big loaf isn't excessive and I hardly add salt to anything else.

We often introduce salt through the ingredients we already use, for example stock cubes and many cheeses have salt in, so I don't see the need to add more. People who eat lots of salt eat so much because they can't taste it, and they can't taste it because they're eating lots of it. It's like sugar in tea/coffee, stop doing it for a couple of weeks and once you get past the initial difference it starts to taste normal. The only problem I now have since cutting out most the salt in my food is that I can hardly eat any processed food, it now seems revoltingly salty.

My sense of taste has improve a lot since I stopped eating so much salt and processed food, things like vegetables that once seemed bland and flat have a lot of taste and I enjoy eating them now. Comparatively, most processed stuff is unplesantly strong, I would even say uncomfortable to eat.

If you made it from scratch with spice then you could make some more curry sauce without salt to dilute what you have.

Try adding a tin of butter beans or some brown sugar.

I was going to suggest the potato, drain some of the sauce off and make some more is the only other thing I can think of doing.

Just done a search and it says add a bit of sugar and lemon juice.

    Worth a go I suppose.
