Make a lovely mojito? White rum, fresh lime, fresh mint and some sugar, top with soda:D

Sorry, was sticking with the cocktail theme.

How about just slicing and freezing them?

    Hi lauranurse,

You can slice them and freeze them to use in drinks later. There are more ideas on this older thread that should help:

    Limes

I'll add your thread to that one later to keep the ideas together.

As you are dieting, use the limes to help you! Squeeze the juice of half a lime into a glass of lukewarm, previously-boiled water, and drink first thing in the morning before breakfast. It's supposed to be very good for you, cleanses the system, gives you a shot of vitamin c, and takes the edge off your appetite for the day.

OK, was going to suggest slice n freeze too - but how about grating the zest off first, and freezing that in ice cube trays? That way you have lime zest to stick into a tangy soup or whatever, and slices for your drinks :)

btw, mymatebob's soup recipe is pretty much the same one I use - add some shredded chicken (leftover shavings from a roast?), some ittle bitty brocolli florets and some thinly sliced carrot, and some grated coconut or coconut milk if ytou have any, and you have Thai soup to die for.

You guys are quick off the mark!

Thank you so much for your suggestions! I never thought of freezing them, that is a good idea, then maybe when I have lost a bit more weight I could treat myself by making some yummy coconut and lime cake (from the other thread)!

The soup sounds nice, so does the cocktail but dont think it would help my diet drinking rum! Although I did get an email yesterday to say I had won some organic spirits, including a bottle if rum lol!

Another thing that was mentioned on the other thread was to put half a lime in the dishwasher, which is a brilliant idea!

    Thanks for all your suggestions!

You could put them in the freezer for next time.

Memorygirl's make do and mend thread has a recipe for lime pickle she made with limes, and also a recipe for marmalade...it was marmalade made with lemon, lime and grapefruit but I guess you could just use limes? I will try to post a link but not tried it before so not sure if it will work!

    Edit: Hope this works!

I have very successfully made lime marmalade. I found that if I kept it for a few months, it matured and was actually sweeter (and nicer) than when it was fresh-made. Makes a change from the usual orange variety on breakfast toast.
