The free phone help line was really useful as you are always ringing them am mad about this.

Those that don't have enough 'in detail' knowledge will be angry about this - whilst not blowing my own trumpet I've been across all of the problems and how to solve them already so AOL doing this doesn't affect me.
The only time I've had to ring an ISP was for a MAC key (when I changed from Wanadoo to AOL).
There are plenty of avenues online to help get your problem solved - I would always try that before ringing an ISP - websites such as http://adslguide.org.uk and http://windowsxpmagazine.co.uk are two I usually go to if in need.0 -

Same here, but if you can log on aol, then type in the address bar, "Live Help" then you can talk to someone without having to pay0 -
Yes I'm really put out by aol deciding to charge for helpline calls now Yasmine. The freephone number has been one of the reasons I've stuck with them over the years. It's going to be really irksome to be paying to speak to someone at the Indian call centre who doesn't seem to understand a word you are saying. I've always ended up hanging up & then kept on dialing till I eventually got through to someone in Ireland. I can't get on with the live help thing, I prefer to speak to someone in person & have them quide me through the problem & when your problem is that you can't even get online, then you have no choice but to call. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -
Hi,
I agree about the Indian help people, even spelling your name can take ten minutes. Also when there is a problem you generally cannot access the live help anyway, so that is no use, so you will still have to ring them anyway.

I am also angry about it, but I have the aol telephone too, so mine will still be free! There may be a way around it if you try the say no to 0870 web site. Also other ISP have expensive help lines, some are as much as £1 a minute. I guess the bottom line is to shop around.
Most broadband problems on aol are easily fixable
1. either re boot the computer
or in the add/change programs run the re-install modem program. 9/10 this solves everything for me.NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -
im indian. lol0
