Oh my gosh! I was followed by a not so subtle store detective at Crown Point, Bournemouth. I went in yesterday to return some unwanted toys. First I was told I couldn't return them there, then when I stood my ground SA made me wait 20mins while she was on the phone to head office. Of course she eventually refunded me. I then went and did my shop, I had 10 skincare vouchers, 3 Free baby Organics, 1 x Free baby water, and 3 Half price baby expert.

I did all this in 3 lots as I thought it a bit excessive to pay for 10 packs of wipes in one go. After my first transaction I went off to collect the next lot and I was followed by a female store detective. The 3rd time she litterally was right by my side. In the end I had to ask her to back off and give me some space, and that I felt harrassed and itimidated. She said 'I'm just doing my job, perhaps you should think about shopping somewhere else!!'. I was gobsmacked. I still paid for my last few bits though - stuff her.

I don't even shop in this store very often, I only went there as it was the only one with the TD wipes.

That is terrible! I think you should ring head office and complain. I also believe that Boots should know about the incident because the security person is probably not employed by Boots and it is in their interest to know that the company they are paying for their security services, is actually scaring customers away! Shocking!

Perhaps she should think about getting a job that dosent involve dealing with the general public....or a whole heap of customer service training!!!!

Then went round and did it all again (different coloured highlighter and eye pencils this time:rotfl:)

I could have got the streak wipes for 50p each but thought I might as well buy something either I or my daughter will actually use so went for the eye pencils

Yes, complain about the security person. You were there doing a perfectly legal shop and though of course it's their job to be observant, it's not their job to approach or harass folk unless they actually see something untoward happening.

And if it happens again to anyone, ask to see the manager and complain on the spot. It's much better to strike while the iron is hot, as they say.

I've had the same kinda thing happen to me in whsmiths. I emailed them & they said they would 'review' their procedures
I know they have a job to do but theres no need to be up my backside the whole time im in the shop.

I complained to pc world once too because of their security. I went in there with dh & mil to look at computers. I had one of those very thin bags on my back, the ones with the drawstring & was heavily pregnant at the time. The security man said i wasn't allowed my bag on my back, i would have to remove it & hold it down by my side  or have the bag over one shoulder & not two

Surely if i was going to nick something having the bag down by my side would make it easier to steal something. I thought that was just stupid & refused & was told i'd have to leave the store which i did.
