Urgent Mercedes wheel change

I have an E Class merc too.
If the standard wheels are alloys and the spare is steel, then you will have seperate bolts for the spare. These are shorter than the bolts for the alloys. That may be causing your problems, although I don't know why.
Another forum that is good for merc owners is http://forums.mercedesclub.org.uk/

Only moves a foot forward or a foot backwards driving it.
As stated in post #16
You should be able to check if the wheel will rotate freely while it's on the jack.
I don't think that it is an identical wheel - needs different bolts. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
It's an auto. Would have assumeputting it in neautral the turning off ignition and pushing would allow me to move it.
p.s. I know more about tractors, but have come across something similar.Move along, nothing to see.0 -
You Must must must check to see if you have a second set of bolts for the spare as this is very common depends on the year of the vehicle. what happens is the normal bolts wind into the hub too far and driving the vehicle or forcing it can be a costly mistake.
Also what year is the vehicle as mercs since about 99 come with 30years breakdown assistance free, i sould know i used to run the technician team. Call them don't be embaressed just cause it is a flat tyre, they do more wheel changes than anything else and are gratefull of a nice easy job.
