Thanks for that. I cannot click thanks - as the button is not there! I have found a XP home disc with SP1a on it that relates (I think) to the PC. I have no idea what I have done with the discs for the laptop (although a bin might have been involved...)Ah. Another cunning plan. I have bought a new laptop with XP home on it from Dell that will be arriving soon. Could I use that disc and the product key on that laptop for this one when it arrives??? Will it matter? I am planning on giving this one to DD when the new one arrives so I would rather not pay money out if I can help it at all.0

Highly unlikely that the Dell disk will work because Dell ships out disks that are ONLY compatible with Dell Hardware.
Dont be fooled into thinking that any XP Home Disk will work. There are different XP Home Disks and their a different set of license keys for each type of disk.
Find out what type of disk you need for your license key - call Microsoft is prob easiest for you, tell them your product key and then make a note of what type of Home disk you need. Locate this media from a private source (how to do that.....well just ask your mate) and bobs your mums brother.0 -
This laptop is also a Dell? (clutching at straws here!) Will follow your advice and call microsoft. Will have to pay out if forced to.... (Boo Hoo) Thanks very much!0

I have clicked thanks as much as I can for all your help. I FIXED IT!!!!!!:T
Wot I did woz.... I installed Firefox. It took me a while to find a site via IE and the issues I had with it, that had a button I could actually click for download, so went to Hippo. I downloaded Firefox from there, and once in Firefox I downloaded Flash again and everything is hunky dorry! Its fine! It works! WHOO-HOO!!!!:T
Will be using Firefox from now on (seems a bit faster than IE and looks similar anyway) and thanks very much for your help and just as important, your patience.
Thanks!!0
