Jet2 - Madness, argghhh!!!

I went on Jet2 website to book flights to Spain from Leeds/Bradford as its the nearest airport to me and paid fees with debitcard (they charge using cc). I then hear on car radio same day they opening new route from Newcastle (which is even closer to me), so looked on web when I got home to find the flights were over £150 cheaper to fly new route, same day/time. Nothing was advertised on their web mentioning this new route when I booked. I decided to call my bank and ask payment to be stopped, they couldn't do anything and told me to go directly to Jet2. I called Jet2 within 20 hrs of booking asking if I could cancel/amend and use new route instead. The customer service woman was really abrubt and quite 'off' with me when I explained my situation (after being on hold for 20mins at 10p/min!!!). She told me I could change names/dates but could not change airport and no refund would be given. I said I still wanted to use Jet2 but from new route (so I'm still giving business to them) but she wouldn't budge and basically said tough luck and told me to look at terms/conditions policy.
Is there anything I can do? The payment has gone through now due to the fact I couldn't stop it.
Shouldn't there be a 'cooling off' period, asking to amend booking within 15 hrs of making original booking when flights not till Sept is that too much to ask? Also I'm postive nothing on their website until later was advertised. Any help v much appreciated.

There is no point talking to customer services-they will just toe the company line-
especially as the company would be losing £150 on the deal!
A better bet is to either write to the Managing Director or speak to him on the phone.
Be very reasonable and polite and explain the situation.

Bear in mind that they already have your booking and your money, and if they do make a change it will be out of the kindness of their hearts as you have confirmed by paying, that you have entered into a contract with them at that price and that airport.

The best chance you have is if your flight from Leeds is pretty full now and the airline
could reasonably expect to fill your seats on that plane, whilst the Newcastle flight
is struggling to get enough bums on seats.

Oh come on now! Managing Director actually reading customer letters or even taking a phone call!! What planet are you on!!
You have more chance of getting a flight to the moon.
If you had read the terms and conditions of the booking you would have been aware of the company policy before booking. It is no use bleating about it now.

Use https://www.saynoto0870.com to stop paying 10p/min at least. They have the numbers 01274 409577, 01202 597600 or 01274 409579 registered as a geographical alternatives for jet2

Still, in response to #3, harsh, but true.

A couple of years ago we booked flights Stansted to Girona. We got in early so got them at £5.99 +tax. As the weeks went on, the price rose up to £99+tax as the plane filled. They then put another flight a day on and the price dropped back down to £5.99 for the second flight. I'd be seething if Id bought at £99 and then that happened.
However my rule now is if Im happy at the time- the deal is done-no looking back
  • JET2.COM what a joke !! .. i accidentally left part of a sir name off of the booking form whilst booking for a friend , when the mistake was discovered they charged me a fee of £48.00 ...same flights, same person, same booking, i merely ommited 4 letters of a long name , i realise it says a fee payable in the terms & conditions but does any one else think ths is an extra money making ploy on their part.
P.S anyone any ideas how to get a refund .

Of course it's a money making ploy. The flights are so cheap, they have to make the money everywhere else. That's the choice you make with budget airlines.

  • I booked a flight for my brother with Jet2. It says you should enter name in full as on passprt. Also says middle names not necessary. As my brother has a middle name I included it. The confirmation info showed only the middle name and not the surname. They charged me £30 for the change plus £2 for using a DEBIT card. I intend to check if doing the latter is allowed. I think the site is at fault because it should have transferred what I entered or given an error message. I have written to Customer Relations but as yet have received no reply.

holly would you of complained if jet2 20 hours later got a better offer for the flights you had booked so decided to cancel your booking.
trying to stop payment like you did could result in court action against you...why on earth would you feel justified in doing that ?
