Hi.
Quick q for Phatmouse....
Do you find that making your own cards works out cheaper than just a store bought pack?Or is it more for the personal touch and a hobby?Wealth is not measured by currency0 -

It really depends what kind of cards you make.
For me my addiction is crafting so i am certain my cards cost more than if i was to buy them, however i love the hobby and i love giving a card that i have handmade as i think it says more than a normal shop brought one.
However i do also sell some cards, especially at christmas so i make a bit back on what i spend.
But to be honest you can handmake your cards for next to nothing by re-using old christmas and bits from around the house, easy, creative, OS and good for our enviroment:DSuccess means having to worry about every thing in the world......EXCEPT MONEY. Johnny Cash

We didn't have much money for presents that Christmas, so this was quite economical, although you could make it as expensive or inexpensive as you like.
I made an Instant Summer Kit - to brighten up the winter!
I had bought beach towels in the end of summer sales, along with other "summery" stuff, like instant tanning wipes, and other odds & ends that were being sold off cheaply. I put them all in a box, with a few other things - can't remember them all as it was quite a while ago. There was also a large yellow paper sun, and instructions to enjoy a summer holiday in the living room! It was a bit of fun, and most of the stuff was useful!
I LOVE this idea, my MIL suffers alittle from SAD so something like this could be just right for her:TSuccess means having to worry about every thing in the world......EXCEPT MONEY. Johnny Cash

I love cardmaking - after my suggestion, my last company even bought them off me to send to clients who had moved to new homes. As the clients were around 70-80 years old they loved them and felt 'welcomed'.
I only charged £1 a card - believe it or not, this huge company a few months later said the £50 a month was too much! They decided to not welcome clients to their new home at all.
I now make them for Christmas and birthdays - get lots of bits off Ebay as well as free pics off Google Images search - definately recommend it as a fun way to save for Christmas that's also a great hobby (PLUS keeps you out of the shops on a weekend!)MFW #185

Hello everyone, I'm pretty new round here but have been enjoying reading the posts... I too am trying to cut back this Christmas and just wanted to share a few of my ideas, as I have got so much from this site already.
Perhaps someone has already posted this, but Asda do lovely little lunchtins at this time of year for £2.85, some of them are lovely (one with a little princess kitten on that little girls would love) and could be used to put bits and pieces in (maybe some of the fab freebies that you can get). As a result of some inspiration from some friends who are scrapbookers, I intend to cover these tins with some pretty paper (to cover the footballs that are on the ones I have bought), and put some little keepsakes in to give my mum and MIL... The more I think about it the more I can see the possiblities are endless with this one, pick something that the person you are giving to likes, for example gardening, and put seeds/small tube of handcream etc in it... Great also to give someone who has just had a baby to put all their keepsakes in if you decorate it accordingly! Looks dead posh for a fraction of the cost of buying it all made up!tying hard to cut down grocery shop bill...0 -
