Is this the recipe you were looking for katyk?

I found it on this thread: make your own christmas booze!!

Thanks Pink - that sounds very familiar indeed! Off to asda for my cheapo rum now, then have to try to leave it alone till xmas. Ends up not very money saving at all when you make (and drink) too much of it.

What age do kids stop having stockings? One of my friends thinks mine are way past the age they should expect one, and another friend still does them for her late 20's kids?

Well, I'm 25 and my sister is 29, and we would be truly gutted if we didn't get a stocking!

I have started getting things to do one for my partner this year too, he's 33 and obviously deprived as his family stopped them at a very young age. (ie under 20)

This, I'm sure, won't help you at all but it will serve as a reminder if Metherer's mum appears on here anytime soon.... ;):p :rotfl:

Well I remember aged about 17/18, expressing a desire to attend midnight mass (Durham Cathedral) and my mum saying "If you want to go out at that time of night, you'd better decide you don't want a stocking cos Santa won't be waiting up till you're back home and asleep before he fills your stocking!"

At the time I chose the stocking :o

But since I was 22 I have been choosing church over a stocking, and it is a proper choice, as to be at "my" church for Christmas midnight and morning services I have to stay in London and can't be with my family at Christmas :(

But I normally make it up to Durham for a few days the following week :j Have already got a bargain advance fare this year - £43 return :j

I'm 28 and my brother's 24 and we both ALWAYS get a stocking. When I got married 4 years ago my mum made my DH a stocking to match the ones she made us when we were tiny. DH is now 30 and again always gets a stocking from my m&d.

Wouldnt be Christmas without a stocking
I'd rather be a could-be if I cannot be an are; because a could-be is a maybe who is reaching for a star. I'd rather be a has-been than a might-have-been, by far; for a might have-been has never been, but a has was once an are – Milton Berle

I never got a stocking until I got married! Although there is always something under my parents Christmas tree for me and my hubby, my sisters and their hubbies, my nieces and nephews, my 2 Grannys and my aunt. Hubby and I do Christmas stockings for each other though, I am 28 and he is 40!! :j  :D

Mum does me and my brother (30 and 34 respectively) a Santa sack!!!

Full of stuff like (for me) nail varnish remover, calendar, shampoo, bath stuff, cotton wool pads, just little things that I will use throughout the year that would otherwise cost me money. Nothing fancy or expensive.

Sometimes there's a Chanel nail varnish as a treat!

Now that's just given me a great idea! I was thinking of making up a basket for my DD1 with all the bits I've got from Boots on BOGOF but I'll just shove them in her stocking instead :D
