    I've never charged round on Xmas eve. Much more fun relaxing with the family and enjoying myself.

    Ahhh, but doing it the old style way, you either; buy everything way before October so you don't have to see it or you are at home making everything so you don't have to go out to the shops :T

    I made everything last year and when I did eventually go shopping it was in December and it was to have a wander and get into the Christmas spirit and buy 1 or 2 baubles and not spend a fortune or get stressed.

    i think it's good to start planning now.

    I have lots of paper left over from last year as well as tags. I saved all the pictures from last years old cards to use as tags and recyle into new Christmas cards for this year.

    Can anyone recommend a good source of card toppers in a Christmasy design that don't cost the earth????!!!

    My next plan is to write a list of people I will be buying presents for, so that when I think of something suitable I can write it against their name and tick it off as I buy/make the presents.

    I've actually setup a second spreadsheet on my budget spreadsheet that is my person / gift list. I use it for Xmas and for birthdays to make sure that I never forget anyone important.

    Cotton wool pads (the round flat ones you use to remove eye make up) are great for making snowmen on cards - just get busy with your hole punch and some coloured card to make eyes, nose, buttons etc.

    I've been Money Tipped!
    I found a great book called "Unplug the Christmas Machine" a complete guide to putting love and joy back into the season by Jo Robinson and William Morrow. Amazon have it for £6.41 or less if you buy 2nd hand. This is a great book for anyone who feels fed up with how commercial Christmas has become. I hook this book out every autumn just to keep me grounded and stop me panicking about what I have and haven't done.

    r.mac - For Christmas card toppers try lakeland - they often have a great selection for card makers.

    Math - sorry but we are all powerless to make it stop now it's started :rotfl:

    Make them yourself? Use up existing supplies and/or keep them very minimilist?! Lakeland SALES are good value, and I've used ebay and craftee.co.uk in the past.

    Where I’m at:
    - Budget is set; and have a DD going into Savings a/c monthly (set @£40/month - to cover Birthdays as well).
    - 90% confident where we will be for Christmas Day itself.
    - Cards and various pressies (esp Boots bargains – dd has a lot of female relies to buy for!) stashed away.

    To Dos:
    Think I’m going to set aside an hour or so at the w/e to:
    - do a pressie drawer inventory;
    - enjoy the hm pressie thread;
    - and draw up pressie making list.
    - "schedule" the pressie making.

    I buy really basic crackers in January when wilkinsons has them for 75% off.We make things to put in them.One year it was resin key fobs and fridge magnets,another year it was bird pencil-toppers made from white fimo and painted.Last year we customised some pens by painting the plain outsides with interesting patterns. I keep the jokes I read on forums in a folder and print them out in a small font and then cut them into strips and we make our own 'better' crackers using the snaps and hats from the originals(cheaper than buying a packet of snaps).
