Hi MOT & Twins and IT,
This is my first post on the post for MOT, I have been spoken to her on PM a few times.
I am sorry but I cannot offer any funds towards the fund as am only on Maternity Pay and have 3 kids and a OH to feed (so sorry) but wanted to say how wonderful you all are. Never before on any kind of board have I seen so many people willing to help so much.
Just a idea MOT, sorry if it has already been suggested but are you a member of Facebook as they have a marketplace on there and priavte properties also get advertised on there as have seen plenty on there for my area (Sussex), also do you have a Friday-Ad where you are as when LL's place adverts on with them they appear on the website before getting published.
I hope this helps, if I can do anything to help please let me know.

I have read both threads and I know my post is not going to be popular. However, should we shy away from saying something that is pertinent because it is not a popular viewpoint? I think not.
Let me begin by saying I have every sympathy for MOT and even more for her children. It is an awful situation she is in and I sincerely hope that she finds somewhere secure to live, for her sake and that of her children.
However, I despair of the vitriol and hatred that so many on MSE have poured onto the council in question and worse, so much worse, the Housing Officer that was doing her job. I was horrified to see that e-mails from the Housing Officer were posted on here, complete with her name and even more horrifed to see allegations were made against a person that was simply doing her job. We all post on here under a non de plume, yet an employee of the council was not given the same courtesy. I am amazed that the council and that employee in particular, has not taken action against this site. Had I been that employee, simply trying to do my job, I would have been seeking legal redress.
The council have strict guidelines and procedures that they have to adhere to. Housing is in such short supply they have to ensure that the people they do house are in genuine need and have not made themselves intentionally homeless. I know a lot of you feel that MOT did not make herself intentionally homeless, but she didn't pay her rent. She was in receipt of HB yet still didn't pay. I am not going into MOT's alleged mental health issues for the same reason the council didn't - there is nothing now to suggest that she was mentally unstable and unable to pay her rent then.
The landlord has been referred to as an 'evil' landlord. I think this is unduly harsh. He was not receiving rent for a property that he rented out in good faith. I would have been annoyed as well. The landlord has his own bills to pay and I am sure was, to some extent, dependant on MOT's payments.
The bullying, name calling and harrassment directed at the council by well meaning MSE'ers has seriously backfired on them. The decision made by the council has been upheld and I suspect that this is, in part, because of the bullying tactics on here and in local papers. It simply made the council even more determined to stand it's ground. If the decision had been overturned, and MOT housed, then someone who genuinely had met all the citeria would have lost out - and that would have been so unfair on that person.
There are others on MSE that have been evicted - genuinely through no fault of their own and they are just getting on with it. They don't have a huge fan club and they are taking responsibility for their own lives. I applaud them.
Whilst I think the support MOT is getting is admirable, all of you involved in this need to be so careful what you say. The council (and it's employees) are not evil & heartless. They are doing an almost impossible job, regulated by strict guidelines laid down by the Government.
MOT, I wish you and your family the very best for the future.0 -
