Think they are tightening up on their returns policy - bought the 'jukebox' from them last month, totally packed up after 3 weeks, and although first in the queue on the day of release and was the first person to the till on the day, because we had not kept the receipt (yes I know that was my fault), they would not replace the unit or even offer a credit note - The 'area manager' said she had to check with head office for a decision and when I went back was told ' sorry' without the receipt (they wouldn't check the till roll), they could only help of the item was less than £10.
Could understand if I wanted my money back but only wanted a replacement or would have accepted a credit note.
Luckily Medion customer service is exceptional, and now have a replacement but lesson learnt -
1. Keep all receipts
2. Dont expect Aldi to 'do the right thing' for the customer unless they are legally required to

I think you'll find most shops/companies won't normally accept a product back without a receipt. Aldi is no exception to this. Medion products aren't sold by Aldi alone, after all. Without your receipt, they have no real proof that you'd purchased the unit from them. Had you had the receipt, you'd have had a refund/replacement without problem. It's not a tightening up of policy - it's always been the policy not to refund or replace products which are also sold elsewhere other than Aldi.
Which area was this, anyway? In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?
It's time to make that change.

I bought the last Gericom laptop they had on offer too. Mine was faulty, kept switching itself off. Gericom CS were a waste of time and spoke poor English, very hard to describe your symptoms to them :wall: I returned it and got a refund without hassle. A grands a lot of money to waste. I can't understand why they don't sell Medion laptops

The DVD writers are usually branded, ie. Pioneer or Samsung, going off there past offerings, so I would compare the price and if it's cheaper, go for it.
The Wireless router has had bad reviews. It's supposed to be easy to set up, which it appears not to be and needs a firmware upgrade before you start. This site has saved me a fortune :money: ...it's also cost me a fortune!

The hard drive looks to be a good price. Its a few pounds cheaper than ebuyer or aria and you have to add on delivery with them as well.Looking to raise some money

Unless things have changed recently, consumer law states you don't need a receipt to exercise your consumer rights. If it packs up after 3 weeks you are entitled to a refund under law regardless.
It does make things much easier if you do have the receipt obviously!0 -

You are correct that Consumer Law states that you don't need a receipt, however, the onus of proof (to show when and where you bought the product) is still on you. If you can't prove when and where you bought the product, the shop is within its legal right to refuse to refund or replace. Most Aldi managers will, however, refund or replace as a gesture of goodwill. The poster, unfortunately, spoke to the Area Manager. In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?

I spoke to the area manager (Lucy) as she was running the store at the time I called in, (I think they were in the process of changing management in the store as the manager who served me originally was not there and hasn't been since ) - I asked for the store manager but she said 'I'M IN CHARGE !'
I was more concerned that she had to contact head office to get a decision - I would have thought that an area manager was able to make the decision herself - Even if it was the same answer I wouldn't have had to make a trip back later to be told "sorry but head office say...."

Have been using a Gericom laptop since it was purchased in January of this year. Fantastic piece of kit...no problems at all - maybe I was lucky.0
