I found some very tall Kilner-type preserve jars with blackboard-type labels and chalks in Lakeland today, half price @ £1.49. I thought that these would be fab for filling with cookies, sweeties, toiletries, crafty things or stationery etc for gifts. Not sure if this was a one-off but certainly worth checking out.

So many 'unwanted gifts' get sent to charity shops so this year I've decided everyone is having 'recycled' pressies..............baskets full of bits and pieces that weren't wanted. It's cheap and I'm trying to cost each basket out at around £6. (Gone over that with what I've got for ex foster girls christmas one though but she's worth it- spent £12 on hers.............!! -still I've spent a lot less on others so hopefully it'll balance out.

[They also had lovely decorative dust pans and I bought four of those to make Dustpan Cookies that I saw on here.]

Hi, I have to ask - what are Dustpan Cookies.

The idea is you are baking biscuits for someone but drop them on the floor, you had no time for baking some more so you swept them up into a dustpan and give them anyway (using a new dustpan of course!).

    http://organizedchristmas.com/dustpan-cookies

Stole the idea from this website. This is a different poem. The one I used goes I was in a hurry,
    'Cuz time was running out.
I'd baked a batch of cookies for you,
    And when I turned about,
I saw they'd fallen on the floor.
It made me want to shout!
How could this happen at this time,
    When time was running out.
I couldn't throw them in the trash.
    Whatever could I do!
I quickly swept them in this pan,
And rushed them off to you.

I changed it a bit to become less american and the I to us as my little boy helped make them for his teachers.

I've managed to get some great bargains over the last few days (mostly because of this site, lol) :D

I've got two 'Guide to Wizards' books coming from Waterstones for 49p each instead of £11, they'll go into two Potter hampers later in the year.

A lovely Revlon manicure set worth £20 for £1.95 (the magazine freebies/offers (not subs) thread), that will go to a female birthday I have coming up. And if I'm lucky, there'll also be a free bottle of Hugo Boss ladies shower gel, which I can use in another female hamper (was a 'first order/mailing list' offer, but I don't know if they'll put it on with me having used a code already).

A couple of really nice books from the Book People sale - £2 each instead of around £10 each - a fishing one for hubby for father's day, and a pirate one for son's birthday.

Then, from the 'cheap' shop down the road - Pirates of the Caribbean lunchbags for £2.99 instead of £5.99, and Pirates of the Carribbean Megabloks sets for £4.99 instead of £9.99. Add a pirate pistol from the Woolies Worth it range for £1 (and it has the full flintlock action - hubby was most impressed :D), and either a tin of POTC jellies & mallows from the Superdrug clearance shelf (£1.99, use by July) or 'pirate treasure' chocolate coins (Thorntons, although yet to track them down) and voila - one Pirate hamper that looks like it's worth a lot, for around £10 - did this once last week for a nephew, eldest saw it and wanted one, so he's getting one for his birthday at the end of the month, and I've bought enough for another nephew later in the year.

And - I covered half the costs with the profits from clothes sold through a local dress agency - yay :D
