I'm sorry I know I shouldn't be asking this here, but was hoping those that have purchased this would be able to help me out ?

Could anyone tell me if a router is still needed to network 2 pc's to access internet or does it run through this.

    Thanks and apology's :o

If you click on the link you are told it is out of stock. So if you go to the site and look it up there is a choice of 2 buttons - More Info which tells you it is out of stock and Buy Now which actually allows you to buy it now.

Strange. I wonder which is telling the truth!

A router would be best but the host computer can share the connection with others on the network. The drawback is the host pc needs to be on for the other machines to access the Internet.

It depends. Do you have dial-up internet access, broadband from a cable company, ADSL broadband or ISDN?

Dammit - I was too late - all this Kebab chatter and such made me miss out.

Oh well, I am going to buy a Linksys AG241 ADSL2+ Router, 3 Network Interface Cards, A Print Server of some sort and then a couple Cat 5 cables to go with it for my new Wired Network.

I also heard that if you have wireless and don't set a password other people who live nearby can use your broadband internet connection!
Yep. And if you leave the keys in your car's ignition, people can use your car to drive about in.... ;)

Anyone who gets wireless should read up about it first, and ensure that they set up not only with a password, but also with encryption. Otherwise, in theory, someone can park outside your house with laptop while you do some online shopping and pluck your credit card number out of the air. Unlikely... but possible.

I found a site which seems to have loads of useful information on this topic: http://www.homenethelp.com/connection-sharing.asp

Having trouble accessing my company via VPN now network is established. Any suggestions?
Don't know how yours is configured, but on this page they say "Unfortunately, ICS is limited in a few ways. First, it has no logging capabilities and no filtering features. In addition, advanced applications like h.323 (netmeeting) and VPNs refuse to work with it. If however you are simply interested in basic connection sharing for your home network and do not wish to invest in a Router, ICS may be the way to go."
