In 43 years driving I have never had any points or even a parking fine, but I put this down entirely to luck and the fact that I only drive 6000 miles a year. If I drove 90000 a year like the OP I'm sure I would have lost my licence by now. Once you realise that the whole speeding camera thing is 90% about raising revenue, it's very hard for someone doing a high mileage to avoid getting caught at some time.I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.0

ABSOLUTE RUBBISH. I've done over 1.7 million miles since I started driving HGVs 15 years ago and I've not got a single penalty point or even a parking fine in all that time.
If you're driving on unfamiliar roads, your observation should be HIGHER so you should be more likely to see the signs than someone who drives down that road 5 days a week to work and back.
Perhaps you should try opening your eyes - I tend to find it works for me.0 -

I doubt you would have. some years I do in excess of 120,000 miles and have yet to get a single point. Getting caught is entirely voluntary and you choose to donate or not.
IMO, anyone getting caught by a bright reflective yellow GATSO should be charged with "Driving without due care and attention" because if you can't see that, what else are you going to miss?0 -

I am a profesional driver, most of my friends are also proffesional drivers.
I fully admit my mistakes, but I will lose my licence because RM did not deliver the original paperwork to me.
You are passing judgement on people you know nothing about,
RM drivers are professional drivers? BWAHAHAHA. Not going by the speed the muppets in the 7.5 tonners have passed me on single carriageway NSL roads. At least now, the new ones will have speed limiters to slow you down.

right i cant say whats in the letters but they wauy it seems to happen here for court summons
1st letter sent RD howev er we do not leave cards if no answer.
these are returned to sender
then the same letter is sent 1st class
(im assuming)
if no answer to this letter then court officers are sent to serve the summons
and again as always i get many many court/dvla/police letters with the wrong address0 -

How do you do this, and still stay within the working time directive for HGV drivers?

Quite easily. I can still drive up to 56 hours a week as the WTD allows for a maximum working week of 60 hours but in a cave in to the haulage companies, the WTD does not count breaks or "Periods of Availability" (which are where you are on a break but may be required to resume work, such as waiting to unload) towards the 48 hour average. In other words, it's basically situation normal and all the WTD did was to introduce yet another bit of paper I need to fill in every week to indicate what breaks and PoAs I've taken and the fact I have to put the mode switch on the tachograph to PoA when waiting instead of leaving it on other work. Thankfully, the UK opt-out is due to end then we'll be doing a true 48 hour week.
Just to add, that 120,000 mile figure includes 15-20,000 miles personal car driving to/from work and social. Currently I'm doing a night trunk which works out at 80,000 miles a year plus whatever I do in the car.0 -
I then had a call from the police, with a conditional offer of the original speeding fine and 3 points put on my licence, as they beleived I had not received the NIP.
So they admitted to you that they had failed in their legal obligations to provide you with an NIP within 14 days?

My advise is seek legal advise and take no notice of all the people saying you should not have speeded in the first place , of course you should'nt have but hey we have all done things we should'nt have at some point in our lives.0
