  • £70 quid??? Sounds a bit steep. I'm only paying £34.50 for 1100 mins texts, 18 month contract, £80 quidco cashback, £30 refer a friend discount and £20 accessories voucher.

    This is 3,not O2 though.
  • You might as well buy the phone SIM free and then add a SIM card at a later date. £70 is far too steep.
  • sorry I missed a bit, its £35 a month, and then £70 upfront for the handset

Not sure, but I think you could get a better deal on T-mobile for overall spend over the contract period. Work it out that way... cost of phone + 18xmonthly rental for a suitable tariff = total cost of ownership.

I'm after a good deal on this. Looking for minimum 200 minutes and 1000 texts. Phone for free.

I saw an offer in the paper a few weeks back on Vodafone, offering 500 mins and unlimited texts for £35 a month, but when I went to the link on the website, you have to pay £150 for the phone.

    Anyone got any ideas?

what about the '3' deal which ends this w/e

    1100 mins or text for £20pm -£80 quido - £30 refer a friend

    The N95 8GB is + £15pm

So with all the discounts, works out at around £31 ish

I an existing 3 customer whos contract is ending, and this works out better than any 'upgrade' deal they have offered

The people who are outbidding you at the last minute are only winning because you didn't bid high enough.

if you bid high enough on eBay you'll win! Others are simply willing to pay more than you and - well - that's tough! You can use their bid assistant feature to bid on across several phones so it'll automatically try and win you one of them but you have to be realistic - e.g. if something's worth £200 and it's like the N95 where many people want it, then chances are the bids will reach close to (or even above) the £200 mark.

No magic way of getting something expensive for less (most of the time).

Sids advice is good by using the eBay tools, or other external eBay tools. 2 days isn't that long though, give it a few more days of bidding yet!

danlaaa also talks about being outbid by a few £ but the highest bidder could well have been willing to go much higher - eBay will only bid the lowest it needs to to win the item for you... it amazes me how many people just don't get this and think the only way to win is to jump in at the end... if something is at £100, and you put in £1000 (beware - you must be willing to pay this if others bid it up!) then eBay will only come in at, say, £101. But as others bid, you still stay the top bidder as you have 'offered' to pay up to £1000 for the item (eBay will not disclose this to the seller, and they are obliged to sell at the highest bid).

So say at the last minute someone jumps in at £150, you'll still come out on top at £155 (say) and win. I guess people are wary of ending up paying too much but the key is stick in how much you are actually willing to pay and let the auction run. Quite simply, if you're willing to pay more than others, eBay will let you have it at the lowest possible amount that's more than their bids.
