Flip me! Sky Digital Price increase? What for?!

I called Sky about this the other day. They refused to talk to me about it as the Sky is in my husband's name. When my husband came on the phone they told him he would have to ring them again after September 1st. They are, however, increasing our package price from August. Think we will try e-mailing them.0

Hopefully you used the freephone number?
Same here re August! So it would appear that they are going to get the increased payments from everyone in August then only discuss any package changes after 1st September. A lot of people, like myself, will possibly be reducing to the £15 or £18 per month - I will be, probably £15.

Well my husband normaly throws the sky book in the bin straight away but for some reason he decided to have a read of the letter.
Talk about spitting feathers!!!! Two price increases before the end of the year for what, repeats, repeats and more blomin' repeats.
I phoned as soon as I got home from work to cancel my subscription as I know there is plenty more I could do with £408 per year!! I've had Sky for about 10 years now and it is scary to think the money I have spent over this time.
Guy tried to make me feel guilty as my kids would not be able to see the Disney Channel anymore (god how will we survive?)
Tried to offer me three months at £9.75 for the family package (normally £19.50) I stuck to my guns insisting it was still too much for what we would watch, a one off payment for a freeview box and the rest in the bank would suit me a lot better at the minute.
Last direct debit will come out in July and then I'm setting up a standing order to move the same money as would have been taken out for Sky to go into my savings account therefore I will see the benefit....
My family were spending too much time in front of the tv anyway so maybe this will incourage then to find other ways to amuse themselves!!!!
Nush :rolleyes:Bout Ye!!!

The lady said they (customer services) knew nothing of these new packages and after going to ask someone she said that any changes will be advised and/or posted on their website ON OR AFTER the 1st September. She actually asked where I had got this information from - "a press release" was my answer. Whether she genuinely didn't know is debatable but she asked what the changes were and seemed very interested to hear about them.0 -
If we cancel our subscription will we still get any channels at all?
Reason I ask is our TV aerial signal is really poor so would like to continue to use the dish to receive "normal" TV........
Also, if we will still get some channels anyone know which ones?0 -

We had Sky cancelled at the beginning of the month and get all the freeview channels still. Channel listing is here
I think that E4 has switched to freeview too? (maybe not?) but we don't receive it."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
Thanks but it says we dont get Freeview in our area.... should have known, we cant even get Channel 5 with an aerial down here0

You should be able to use your sky digital box, if you have one, to view about 100 free channels without the need of an aerial.0 -

This is the site you want http://www.freesatfromsky.co.uk/. It details all of the channels you can pick up for free with your Sky box. It's what I use and I'm more than happy. What goes around - comes around0
