Flip me! Sky Digital Price increase? What for?!

Sky have kindly advised that from Sept 1st they'll be charging me more per month for having Sky digital.
Erm...what are they charging the extra for? Apart from the obvious greed reason?
Sky Movies has become utter dross, but if I ditch that, I'll have to pay a monthly subscription for my SkyPlus box.
Anyone else think this is just wrong?

i agree
i only found the bit of paper by accident, as normally their so called mag goes straight into the recycle bin.
i called them, and said i wanted something cheaper, all the woman could offer me was the asian channels for 16.50 - i said thanks but i wasn't asian
couldn't give me any other offer, as apparently they are changing their pricing structure next month, and new tarriffs will be sent out with the next junk mail...hmm we'll see0 -
Sky's whole subscription pricing structure is changing from 1/9/05 - see HERE.
The non-Premium channels (known as the [£19.50/month] Family Pack at the moment) are being split into 6 'mixes' - see HERE.
2, 4 or all 6 of those 'mixes' can then be combined with any number of Premium channels - see HERE.
They say the increases amount to an everage of 5% but, with inflation running at less than half that, the reason for the increases is, quite simply, PROFIT.Their - possessive pronoun (owned by them e.g. "They locked their car").
They're - colloquial/abbreviated version of 'They are'
There - noun (location other than here e.g. "You can buy groceries there") OR adverb (in or at that place e.g. "They have lived there for years") OR adverb (to or towards that place e.g. "Go there at noon") OR adverb (in that matter e.g. " I agree with you there").0 -
Anyone would think you lot are forced to have Sky.0

Oh no, I put the mag straight in the bin!!!
We have the family pack, how much is it from 1st Sept then?0 -
the family pack will now be £21
cheeky ploy though by grouping the channels, so to maintain a mix of progs you have to subscribe to all of them
why couldnt they do packages that included a few channels from each group0 -
ah well, mines going from £51 to £51.50.. won't kill me though0

I haven't seen the groupings yet but I'm going get down to the £18.00 4 mix pack or die trying.

I've had a look now. The variety pack (sky one, uk gold etc) is a must have. The kids pack is a definate drop. The other four all have one or two channels I watch occasionally. One of them is going to go, probably the news channels.
So effectively I've saved 1.50 per month. I'm happy.

Same here. We will be dropping the news channel and one other (not kids though or I will be in BIG trouble!!) so I will be paying less each month.0
