Annoyed by an eBay noob

Noobs, eh?
I was really annoyed yesterday to get an email from a buyer who bought some bird food from me on eBay on Monday afternoon (the transaction being their first ever on eBay). I posted it out on Tuesday morning by second class postage as per the listing.
On Wednesday morning I get an email from them saying "would you hurry up and send it because my chicks are dying".
That really made my blood boil. If they buy it Monday afternoon, when exactly did they expect to receive it? Also, why leave it so late to buy food for their pets by mail order and then imply that it's somehow my fault!
Anyway, I sent them a polite reply pointing out that their purchase was posted out within less than 24 hours of paying for it. I won't tell you what I wanted to say but I'm sure you can guess!

Fair enough at least you are communicating and your buyer knows that the food has been sent. We've all been novices before, and certainly it appears that it is the lack of experience that is being manifest. I am sure that your polite explanation would put the buyer to rest.
Having always bought on ebay and never sold, it can be frustrating not to hear anything at all from the seller especially if delivery is not as prompt. Just this Monday I won and paid for items via paypal. I left a polite message via paypal payment for the vendor to advise on delivery which was supposed to be Parcelforce 48 hours. Heard nothing and with no delivery by Wednesday night, I sent an email to seller. I am still awaiting a response.
I know some with more experience (I've only got 3 years) may think I am being impatient, but I always think a quick email is always helpful. Is there any protocol for communication after the closing of an auction?Do you make things happen, watch things happen, or just wonder, what happened?0 -
i don't think thats impatient and i also think three years is a lot if experience! You are right to be trying to contact the seller as did state what the delivery time would be. I always contact the buyer saying i have received payment and when I have posted out. I feel irritated if I don't get this, not to mention a bit worried.0

to be fair if your chicks were dying then i'm sure you would go down the shop and get food for them if it is so desperate.'What's poignancy grandad?'

dig up a few worms, raid the neighbours bird table.......all sorts of waysI haven't been asked to tell you that I'm the Board Drunk for this board. As the night wears on, my posts will become worse, with simple spelling mistakes, inane ramblings, and a blatant disregard for the truth. I have no authority to do anything, so there's no point asking or telling me. If you see me past midnight, please tell me to get my coat and order me a taxi.

I always send a "Payment Received" email and a "Item Dispatched notice" to all buyers.
That's what made me even more annoyed - they clearly hadn't even checked their email because if they had they would have seen the dispatch notice.Everyone loves Magical Trevor.

Normally I'd agree with you but poultry feed isn't really available on the high street, and you normally have to buy it in 25kg bags like I do.Everyone loves Magical Trevor.

Ok then, what is reasonable. I am a noob, I started buying last weekend and bought an oop book. Got invoice monday - paid immediately. Sellers postage was first class recorded. Then emailed this monday to enquire if there was a problem. Still had no reply, just emailed again and mentioned item not received process - its now 10 days since payment. Its not just us noobs that cause the problems.
PS the item and postage were only £6.00, and hes already left pos feedback - not sure what to make of it?Gas doc on the loose0 -

I normally leave it about 10 days before I email a seller to confirm that they have shipped an item to me. I think that's reasonable.Everyone loves Magical Trevor.
