Where to go in Turkey...?

HI Everyone,

We are looking to go on holiday to Turkey this year with 2 kids aged 11 & 15. They love theme parks and water parks so somewhere with those close by would be ideal. Problem is I don't know what the places are like?

Can anyone suggest where abouts to go? I've looked at Gumbet but a friend told me it was not a nice place.

  • Hi

    try this website
www.holidaytruths.co.uk and look up tukey forum, loads of help , advice, hotel reviews and picture albums etc.. Its a friendly webiste and the users are most helpful, some even live in Turkey and keep everyone update on area etc.

Personally, we have had 2 holidays in Side. One hotel we stayed in was called the Sunrise Hotel Resort and spa, as it is now called ,a couple of years back, at the time we didnt have a very good stay with things happen to us, this hotel wasnt our choice either as thomas cook changed our hotle 3 days before we were due to go.... However our friends we met there and had met the year before in another hotel, returned last year ,2 years later after we all stayed and found it to be brilliant and really improved, and are returning for a 3 rd time this year.

It has a big windmill with lots of different slides coming from it, 7 huge pools with pool bars in most.. Its not very local to Side town, but if you dont mind a taxi ride cos there are dolmus buses, then this hotle will keep kids of this aged very busy !! Foam partys on the beach in a secured safe area with guards, and also night time films on the beach suitable for kids, internet access, pool tables, entertainment, gym.....

Also you can book a visit to the Waterpark in Antayla, which is recommend, you can also pay to see a dolphin show and swim and have pictures taken with them. It is an expensive day but lovely and loads of fun.

This year we are back to Side and staying at the Hemera, on roll june cant wait.

    Hope this helps you
    regards

Personally, I loved Turkey and did not like Greece half as much. Tastes differ.
  • I also soo love Turkey.
There is a water park at calis beach (by Fethiye). I love the fethiye area. There is also one at marmaris I think but I am not so fond of marmaris.

  • one thing to remember is that if you have been to the waterparks in America ...dont expect the Turkish parks to be like this !!! I LOVE Turkey, but you have except their different way of life. If you want a holiday with sun, cheap food that tastes good, shopping that an 11 and 15 year old will love (if they dont mind their designer wear looking ral but not BEING real !!) then Turkey is the place to go. The trips are cheap - the boat trips are a great day out for the family and if you shop around you can get them for next to nothing or even free!! I have been to Bodrum twice and Marmaris 6 times - Mamaris is busy but maybe better that than really quiet when you have teens. Lots of bars with shows that are ok for kids with snooker tables etc - activities along the beach(dont expect golden sand-you need a trip for that). Gumbet is not a nice place and too far away from the action for my liking. If you want a quiet holiday then try Side or Fethiye - enjoy !
I have had brain surgery - sorry if I am a little confused sometimes ;)

I too prefer Turkey to Greece. Our favourite place in Turkey is Hisaronu. If you want info on Hisaronu log on to www.hisaronu.co.uk

I have a place nr Marmaris so know the place pretty well. There is a nice water park and you can catch the hydrofoil to Rhodes and sample Greece!

Sure the strip along the front is busy as is bar street the the Marina is very upmarket - so something for all.

I went to Marmaris the year before last and loved it as there's something for everyone. Unfortunately, I made the mistake of going back last year and it was awful! I couldn't wait to get back home as I'd done everything and been everywhere the year before - my own daft fault really for going back so soon

Hahaha! I agree!! but then again my only experience of Turkey was Gumbet and it was awful! too many people hassling you in a really horrible way. we visited bodrum too and it was nearly as horrible. they were chasing us from shops through the street shouting and swearing at us beacuse we wouldnt buy some rubbish or other! couldnt walk down the street - you had to run to where you wanted to be - no browsing menus in the street. having said that we got on well with hotel staff and found a cafe we could go in and the waterpark was good too.

shame I didnt go to a nicer part of turkey as we wont ever go back now!

have a good look at holidaysuncovered.co.uk - a worthwile read when you look at hotels before you book.

my parents went to ol deniz and loved it.
