  • Not really a clue where to go with the neighbours, I think i'd ive gave you the cash out of decency especially as it was such a small amount.
On the subject of rd, I sent a pretty important letter for ppi reclaim with a time scale that has never been signed for, was over 2 weeks ago. From what ive picked up it probably got there they just couldnt be bothered to get a signature. Really anoyed as that signature was dated proof of them recieving my letter + the fact it cost 2 times more and in all honesty I doubt i'll bother again, if it isnt going to get signed surely that is defeating the object 100%.

given the scale of mail they would recieve their items are most likely scanned and placed on a printout.more likely it got missed on the scan im afraid.

you probably sent the letter to a large financial institution which receives hundreds of RD and SD items per day, in this case the postie would get them to sign in one place for all the items as its not easy for the comapny mail room employee or receptionist to sign for hindreds of items seperately.

as such, the signature would not appear online, as the online POD needs to show the signature next to your RD or SD reference.

however, if you ring them up (royal mail) and ask them whats happened to your item they will search all possibilities, including bulk signatures and then happily provide POD via a .pdf email attachment for free

sorry to say but the trust you show in your neighbours has cost you dear (well only a fiver). either your neighbours know what happned to that PO or their daughter is telling them porkies.

its inconcievable to suggest that someone could sign for a letter and then forget where she'd put it, thats just such a blatant lie!

    1) the next time your postie is dropping your letters through the letterbox i would open the door and seriously rip into him/her for delivering your mail to your neighbours address without your prior instructuions

    2) walk into the nearest RM delivery office and ask to speak to someone senior and complain about this pathetic excuse for a human being who is overpaid to drop mail through peoples letterbox's, yet cant manage it properly

    3) ask your buyer for a copy of the original PO receipt, and ask RM what happened to it

    me too...
dont you have to be a certain age to sign for things?
    bet its been cashed...
if i was going round to them to ask one more time if they have found it, i would casually drop in the conversation that "at least it was a postal order that can be checked to see if its been cashed" as if you are saying they have chucked it out with thier rubbish and someone else found and cashed it..that should scare daughter into confession!!

1: or perhaps thought they were saving them a trip to collect the item?

2: nice, hope your views would be so strong in the real world rather than over a keyboard

3:no need for any paperwork.just call up with the item number and delivery address

    Thanks all.

I'll be contacting RM to ask them about their policy and instructing them NEVER to leave anything with a neighbour again. Heavens - they don't do it with parcels (even when we're in, they don't deliver them!), and I'm always have to traipse down to the sorting office.

The daughter is 18. We didn't "trust" them with our mail, as such. The postman did. We had no say in it. He just delivered the letter to them instead of us.

I honestly don't think the daughter would have cashed the PO. They are a little "odd", shall we say, but I don't think they are dishonest. Anyhow, as suggested, I'm going to nip round just to see if they've managed to find it. I'll tell them what was in the envelope (hubby hasn't done so far) and tell them we can find out if it was cashed.

    Thanks again.
