8mb Broadband, Unlimited download. Advise?

Hi there.
After 3 1/2 months of hassle with tiscali we have finally given up!!

Wanting 8mb broadband with unlimited downloading. For round about £10/15.
(already got our calls and line rental with BT)

Searching the internet now, but anyone know anything suitable?

Cheers!

  • We have Tiscali "unlimited" and it works great almost all the time. Only problem is if you download a huge amount in a short space of time and then disconnect, when you try to reconnect you can't. It seems as if it locks you out for a couple of hours after very heavy useage. May just be coincidence but it has happened a couple of times.

Sorry to be pedantic but if you are using ADSL (BT line) you will not get 8 meg unless you are very close to the exchange. Have you looked to see were it is?? If it is very close by I'd say go with it. If it is afar distance you might find that you are paying for 8meg but never get more than 2.

    yeah ur right there

Our line only supports a max of 2mb so no point in us paying for anything more.
  • I've always been on a BT line and get between 6-7mb when on 8mb broadband stebiz :) Never had any trouble. Completely avoiding tiscali, absolutely horrendous customer service. 3 months of 20+ phonecalls and still nothing got sorted.

Will keep searching :) (&look into primus, thanks devizes)
  • I'm currently with Be*.. £18 a month, 24mb, unlimited downloads. They've been bought by 02; anyone with an O2 phone can move over to them onto an 8mb line for £7.50 a month. Bargain! No limits either on downloads.. think it's £12.50 if you've not got an o2 phone
  • Hold on if your exchange has is ADSL2+ supported then you will be able to get UP TO 24mb depending on the distance you are from the exchange

I've had horrors with Tiscali and Bt both absolutely horrendous but that's another story.I signed up with o2 last week and am very impressed I'm all up and running already..easy set up(thats saying something as I'm a technophobe)..text messages keeping me informed...freephone 24/7 and uk based £7.50 p/m and unlimited downloads...very efficent
  • Hello Kerilinann!

I can't speak more highly for Be Broadband.

Their UpTo 8Mbps Download, and 1.3Mbps Upload for £14 will suit your needs. It has a FUP, but you won't be affected unless you download 300GB + which I am sure you won't!

    Best Wishes
