Hi,
I really really hope someone can help and i'm sorry if this is a bit of a ramble.
My boyfriend has decided to end things just like that, very annoying and upsetting as we have only just brought a house togeather in September and moved in just before Christmas. When we brought the house we let my flat out which was fine. We combined our wages ( he earns double to me) so we agreed to get a joint account and take a set amount out each as spending money the rest would pay the mortgage, bills, debt etc.
Anyway the house need lots of work done to it which went on to the credit cards and loans. The loans are joint
Paragon £23,000 (£400 a month)
Halifax £5000 (£140 a month)
Crystal Windows ( £50 a month)
My Virgin Credit Card (£5000)
My Marks and Spencers card (£4000)
I also have a loan on my flat with picture!!! which is £397 a month
I am going to move back into my flat but once i have paid the mortgage, the picture loan (which i only got as we both lived in the flat togeather and he paid half), Travel and bills i will only be left with £250 a month to live on i will have to buy food out of this and pay my credit cards (even though it was stuff for the house that went on them). I can't afford to pay half on all the debt.
We can't sell our new house yet as it is nowhere near finished. I really don't want to be forced to sell my flat.
I feel so lost i don't know what to do at all. Please any advise would be great

:hello:
Hello poohwithmoney (love the name!)
OK, how much work needs to be done on the house?
Has the money all been put aside for that work or is that on top of the joint loans / cards?
Can you sell anything you have bought for the house to reduce the balance on YOUR cards?
What has your BF said about paying the joint debts?
Is the Picture loan in your name only?
Has your BF said anything about this?

Hi,
THe house needs to be completley decorated and carpeted and doors hung, we have everything brought it's now getting around to doing this.
Most of the stuff i brought with me from my flat so it will need to go back to the flat with me.
He hasn't said anything he said i will have to pay my share until we dicide what to do with the house
Nope nothing about the picture loan apart from it was my fault for getting into the debt that made me get in the first place.

I would finish the house, "dress" it for the estate agents & get it on the market. Will that will get rid of the mortgage & some of the joint debts?
Make sure you take all your stuff back to your flat.
Do you know anyone who could share with you for a while to help with the bills until the house is old?0 -

The flat is only a one bedroom so no chance of sharing
I am so annoyed at him for doing this especially as he know how much i earn and won't be able to really afford to live in the flat by myself.0 -
Did you not manage to afford the flat when you were there by yourself before?
Can you not get rid of that and move to a smaller one?0 -
I did until i got the picture loan which i discussed with me boyfriend at the time as he had moved in with me and it even paid off one of his credit cards but he doesn't care about that now.
I can't sell it as i have the picture loan secured against it and my flat is the cheapest in the area.0 -
I know its not probably a nice option but do you have relatives or a friend you could move in with, that would effectively halve your bills for a while and take away the burdon of the house.
The best thing to do is post here a full comprehensive list of income and outgoings (known as an SOA Statement of affairs) then we will look for ways to cut expenses.
Also if you find you are struggling to keep up repayments you may be better calling one of the debt charities, such as CCCs or payplan, who will negotiate on your behalf with creditors.
Best wishes

I'm no good with the financial advice as I'm still learning myself, but just wanted to say sorry you're having a pants time. I've just split up with my bloke too but luckily we are renting so it's not as tangled to get out of. Hope you get some advice here to help you.Debt at LBM July 2013: [STRIKE]£46,085.88[/STRIKE] Debt today: £36,501.67

do you have any evidence that his credit card was paid off by your loan? statement or something like that, if so you could then ask him to pay his share of the loan for that amount?:j0
