Comodo firewall question

Comments

  • Ok, the usual situation after a 'you'll be fine' promise:

Done all the McAfee removal, run the Comodo installation only to find a box pop up calling itself 'WinZip Self-extractor' and announcing 'Error0 running command ./CFP_Setup_3.0.15.277_XP_Vista_x64.exe'

The second item should be a backward sloping slash rather than forward.

    Any thoughts?

Yes, I'm interested in installing a new firewall, too. Are there any recommendations for Vista?

  • And I've just run into exactly the same installation problem as Cjarlton King. Can't be bothered with it. What other free firewalls are technically good, please?
  • Did you download the correct verison 64 or 32 bit?
  • My processor is a Athlon 2 x 64 so I clicked on the 64 bit version. Got the box mentioned by CK.

There's no way I can be bothered going into lots of technical troubleshooting steps which might produce more trouble than their worth.

I just want an instal which goes cleanly and quickly. Not too much to ask?

Well I just installed comodo on a Amd 2x64 and the OS was 32bit.

Click on Start, then Right Click My Computer then left click on Properties to find out if its 32 or 64 bit.
  • Ok thanks for the info - it IS 32 bit, which really confuses me! Obviously that's where I've been going wrong.
  • Get the 32 version from here http://www.personalfirewall.comodo.com/download_firewall.html

make sure any previous versions are uninstalled and restart the PC before the new install.

and choose standard installation not pro or expert user mode
  • Thanks. Should I turn off the resident Windows Defender firewall that comes with Vista?
