What's the deal with cover versions? I know STP forums all say you should rate 0 automatically, but what's the official line about covers/ Does it say anywhere that the music has to be original? I know we're supposed to be finding talent, but does that automatically exclude cover versions?

I ask becaue I had a very good cover version of Guantanamera today which I assumed most scouts would know was a cover, rated 0 and fell dramatically in my accuracy. I get the feeling if I get covers again I'm just going to refresh the page!

it's a bit of a gamble really with covers - they should be rated 0, but then there's always the possibility that not everyone will realise it's a cover and rate it as an original track.

the safest option is to refresh unless it's particularly blatant and you're absolutely certain that people will know it's a cover.

I'm crap with covers, I hardly ever know, its hit my accuracy on more than a few occassions, I obviously dont listen to enough music!

well i had an akon track last night that had some 2Pac vocals mixed in - i rated that a zero and lost 2.5%

i also got a song last night called "Neighbor" by an artist called "Matt Griffo"

If it's still there by the time anyone reads this - have a listen. It's disgusting - i've emailed STP about it and with any luck they'll remove it.

I had a remix of Christina Aguilera (sp?) the other day, remix being a very loose term - luckily I actually knew that track and rated it accordingly with a 0.

ok, after my latest session i am 100% signing off for a week, or Monday the 29th, whichever comes first.

mate Im chuffed for you too, and proud well done,

ive let thigns go a bit the last 10 days or so and had a load of cack yesterday,I have also heard th e whole tristan lynch album, horrific as it is, and got 4 of his tracks out of 5

the only other 5 star scout over there at the moment has just started scouting again and is back down to 4 - so that officially makes me the number one scout .. worldwide.

dropped from 89 to 83 in the space of about 15 horrible tracks, managed to get it back up to 86 by 21 track so all is not lost - yet
