Welcome to the board from another Newbie!

    I am struggling finanically too and within the last 3 days of spending time going through some of the threads on here I have done the following;

Registered and been accepted with 4 Mystery Shopper Companies and I have two jobs lined up.

Joined Slicethepie, Pigsback (both of which you earn points/cashback.

Applied with 2 Companies as telephone / text operators for Chatlines.

Opened another bank account to separate my bills/loans from my savings for xmas, presents, car tax, holidays etc.

May be you could look at extra some extra income in and managing your money better.

    Good Luck!
    Hi mrsb68
just wondered if you`ve heard back about the chat line thing, i was toying with the idea of trying that, although i`d definately have to do the texting one as wouldnt want me son to hear me ! let me know how you get on, pm me you you prefer .
Going it alone and feeling the pinch
    CCJ £2,900(Reducing by £50 pm)
  • Feel abit better today after talking on the debt and depression thread, feels good to get it off my chest.

Just about to go in to town for my contact lens test, its my birthday present from OH, slightly overdue! Checked the post and my old life insurance company have sent me a cheque back for £25.26 that I wasn't expecting.

After that I'm going to see my sort of niece as I've not seen her in a while, so it should be a good day.

On DFW matters, not doing too well this month, but I think I've paid off about £500 so far, I'll have a proper look when I get back tonight

    Have a good day everyone

    Afternoon everyone,

Not much to report today, I've spent the day clearing out Dads house ready for the builders and kept finding pictures of us from when we were little, which set me off again....

Anyway no money spent today, well not mine anyway, which is a good job because I went over paps challenge amounts.
    Next week will be better

    :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Stupid Severn Trent Water. I live in a new build house with a disc thing on the outside of my flat. They came to read it but it didn't register properly. So they have estimated my reading but my last two bills I had someone living here with me and now I don't so it's not a true reading and I was hoping to lower the direct debit amount.

OK fine I'll take a manual reading but no I can't because when the meter was installed the useless builders have put it directly underneath the sink with a shelf on top and its pointing upwards. I have tried to get my head in to read it but because of the pipes its impossible.

So I rang up Severn Trent, spoke to a guy who obviously didn't want to listen kept saying it's the law we only have to come round once every 2 years blah blah blah and flat out refused to do anything! Wouldn't even ask the meter reading team to come and look!

    So what now?

  • Lower your dd anyway. Thames Water wanted £33 a month from me and I sad I would only pay £28 and they agreed. Do they charge extra for non dd payment? I think it takes alot for them to cut someone off so at worst start paying by monthly invoice what you want/think you should pay and after two years you will know where you are . I was £100 underpaid (very unusual for me but they stopped my dd after I moved house and was in credit and for once I didnt notice the dd wasnt going out each month for a year!!) and now still £78 and I dont believe they can do anything. I make regular payments to them and the figure is reducing.

Just found your thread it sounds like you are doing really well except for this little set back. Dont forget us on the dealing with D&D thread if you every need to talk.

Thanks Wendy, have convinced OH to come over with tools to help me read the meter! I was wound up earlier and called him in a strop so bless him he's coming over in a bit.

I have been reading the thread a bit but haven't posted I didn't ring the doctors because I just couldn't do it in the end and my manager from work knows everything and is going to get the private health care from work people to ring me I think its PPA or something like that. I don't want to go back and have to see the same doctor at my GPs thats all. Okies going to stop posting here about this and come over to the other board!

    Thanks again

I've been hearing rumours over the past couple of days about a guy who lives in one of the vilages at work, who was beaten within an inch of his life and then left for dead. He managed to call someone but they turned off his life support machine yesterday, the worst part is his fiance is a lovely girl who works with me and is about 15 weeks pregnant with his baby, they have been trying for years and she was so happy that she had finally gotten pregnant and now this has happened.

Kinda puts things into perspective doesn't it?

    Afternoon,

Just found out the guys they have arrested and charged I went to school with and had a run in with several times. As per usual it was about drugs and the local paper have reported it shockingly wrong. Not even close to the truth. It annoys me they can't even get the facts correct.

On a debt free wanabee front, it seems the council have decided to take my council tax off me this month, and the car tax has come through. I do have a bit of money left for the end of the month so that should pay it off and I am hoping for about 7 days overtime and my pay has gone up so I should be getting a decent amount this month, even though its still nearly 3 weeks until I get paid!!!!

I keep wishing the month away so it is quicker to pay day wheras before I used to dread payday and the credit card bills. Now I can't wait to receive them to mark off how much money I have paid back.

    Hope everyone is ok
    xx

didn't win on the euro millions..... another week at work then!
Car tax is £115 for the year! arrggghhh:mad: . Its not due till the end of the month and I get paid on 28th so I can pay it off then. For next year I was thinking of getting one of the post office accounts and letting my mum keep the card and giving her £20 a month to add on it. Then if anything goes wrong with it I have a bit of money to fall back on, but I can't find any details on it anywhere any ideas? Or am I jsut making it up!?

Have had a really bad week spending wise. Spent far too much money and I'm over paps challenge.... Went to Morrisons and spent £33!! but that should last me for most of this month. However did spend £3.10 on a magazine.........

I'm off to a quiz tonight. Dad used to organise it ever year, for charity, and in the past I've never been able to go as I was always the tester for the questions, now someone else has taken over doing the quiz and they have named the trophy after him so I'm expecting it to be an emotional night. Mum has bought the tickets and drinks and things so shouldn't have to spend anything but thats not the point.

ok I'm going to go and find paps thread for next week and confess my sins
