I can see what you mean and there is no reason this wouldn't work.
I would suggest that you leave the manufactured hem and shorten from the undone edge. This will save you the job of having to hem the skirt.
This is what I would do too."Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

Whoooo hoooooo, I got a dressmaker's dummy off Ebay! Can't wait to try it out, but need to measure her up and try and make her the same shape as me first!"Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

I would make the lining a little smaller all round the curtain so that you can sew the egdes togather in a seam and then it will be folded inside the curtain IYSWIM, then make sure the tape is positioned over the lining and then sew the curtain and the lining to the tape if that makes sense? That way you won't see the lining from the outside even when the curtains are open. Does that make any sense at all?
Oooh just found a picture showing what I'm badly describing here thats much better explained!
I'm just about to make a skirt each for my girls once I've tided up.........0 -
I think so bun but i'm still not sure, so do I actually hem the lining in ALL the way round the curtain?? is that what your saying? On a mission0

Personally I would hem the lining seperatly from the material just to give it a better swing, it depends on the curtain material really and how thick it is. I think once when I used blackout lining I hemmed it with the curtain as it was quite thin material but thicker material I've left it seperate so 2 hems. HTH0

that does help thanks love. think i'll just try sewing the lining under the header tape for now and see how it comes out, I an always hand baste it on later if it turns out carp.

Just to show you guys a skirt I made yesterday. Found some gorgeous material in the fabric shop on saturday and both the girls wanted a skirt out of it. Spent ages on Sunday making a pattern to suit the material and the girls, spent ages chasing them round the house with a tape measure and ended up making this:j :j :j
this is ED one who is 6 and wore the skirt today. YD is 3 so hers is a little smaller obviously! They both love them:T
I bought 1.5 m at £14.99/m so it wasn't cheap but the material had so much work in it that I didn't mind. The material reminds me of Monsoon clothes and a skirt from there would easily cost over £20 so I don't mind that I got 2 skirts for £22. Just need to find something to use the scraps on!!:rotfl: I was going to make a headband for each of the girls but the material doesn't look right because its striped. I would have to pick a layer and just use that I think. Will ponder on that. Also bought some material for me to make a spring skirt, will post that when I get round to it! What do you think?!0
