Hi Mrs F , i have seen that website, in fact found it last night, thanks :T
wonder if anyone has ordered from it before ?
  • Hi, I just placed my first order with u-handbag.com. As I'm a complete beginner at bag making (and sewing in general) I ordered one of their bag making kits and have been really pleased! The instructions were really straightforward to follow (even for a beginner like me) and the resulting bag looks really good (even if I do say so myself). Delivery was also very prompt. There are lots of free tutorials on the site I'm planning to explore. Making bags is a much better way to feed my bag addiction:rotfl:! Oh and I believe it stocks a full range of interfacing.

I've just bought my first sewing machine and am still getting the hang of it. I was getting tired of disposable poorly made clothes and the ethical and environmental issues surrounding them. So I decided to have a go myself. This morning I've turned a dress that looked like a sack on me into a well fitting top. I'm really pleased with it:j.

    Also love the skirt Bunny!

I just recently ordered some interfacing and lining from there, for a bag I'm making... I'm another new sewing machine person, having borrowed one last year and totally loved it. I def think that U Handbag (and U handblog)- is AMAZING! So many tutorials and tips and ideas, and for me it's a lot less scary to order stuff online than going into a scary haberdashery shop full of all kinds of stuff when I don't know what I need!

Plus, the stuff I ordered seemed decently priced, came really quickly, AND there was a little bar of chocolate in the package :T

Good luck with the projects, everyone x

Hi Ive just found this site and am swooning at the thought of so many kindred spirits!

Rikki when ive made dolls before i used calico which is perfect, you should be able to buy it anywhere, i got mine in JL and it was fairly cheap, havent been there for a while so not sure how much it is now.

Depends on the doll I am making at the time, I have used calico, cotton and brushed cotton, My mum gets it for me in the market in London if I ask her to and sometimes I get it from the market here in Northampton, I have also bought from the Fabric warehouse but this works out expensive. Sometimes I use cotton sheets as you can make more than one doll from these.
