Can't help with the teddy pattern, sorry. But you COULD make yourself some fleecy dinosaur pyjamas or a dressing gown if you really can't bear the thought of making all your work colleagues jealous? I actually meant a casual parka type jacket, I think a fleece lining for a work jacket would be a bit tricky to do ;) You just have to think laterally if you're going to build your stash up into mammoth proportions like mine :rotfl:

Fleecy PJs? Now there's a thought! Mrs F, I like the way your brain works!

My latest project is a bag for my laptop. Seems silly to pay for it when I have fabric lying around and a smattering of practical ability. Also, the ones I see in the shops never have enough of the right sized pockets in the right places. Will have a bash at it over Easter and post pics if it turns out to be any good. ;)
Only when the last tree has died and the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realise that we cannot eat money.

Claire - you probably know this already, but the latest trend in laptop bags is that they are colourful and can be worn like a backpack! It is great being able to carry that lump of a laptop around and still have your hands free....

  • OOH my, that is a gorgeous skirt indeed! I wish I had an inkling of embroidery prowess because if you did, it would be sooo easy to copy! Good luck with your version!

I won an item off ebay which was a bag of laura ashley scraps of fabric. I intend re-using them into various items to sell, and want to advertise that they are in fact laura ashley fabric.
But I dont actually know whether they are or not ( I am presuming they are but.... ) and it would be nice to know the name of the fabric. Is there an online library i can look them up? Or does anyone have any ideas on how to check.
    many thanks clever people.

I dont know how you can check if its real LA (have you looked on their website?)- BUT I am very intregiued to know what you are going to make! As I am a craft person too ... have just also bought some LA fabric off ebay, I am going to make jewellery rolls for my pals as birthday pressies, if i can work out how to make one this weekend! :D

That's a lovely skirt. The trouble with Monsoon is that they are horrendously expensive, even in the sale!

I think I am going to sit in front of Google images and my pile of fabric and type in "LA roses" or similar and compare the two photos. I have already identified LA Sophia this morning :T .

I make things primarily out of recycled jeans/denim, and am a big fan of the Shabby chic thread. So I want LA or Cath Kidston or copycat material to trim the things I make out of the denim. So at the moment its padded hearts, tablemats and big shopping tote bags.
Those jewellery rolls sound good. Not sure how to make them either! Have fun trying

Cool! sounds like you have some cool projects on the go! did you buy your fabric on ebay? I was looking on there last night and there is loads of nice floral print fabric. I have soo much dark denim from when I was at university that I don't know what to do with, do you make anything else out of denim? I guess bags are the best thing? Don't think the jewellery rolls will be too hard, going to try and make them simple so I dont make life too hard for myself!
  • Hi I made a great bag from an old pair of jeans I followed these instructions http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/A1002790 I lined the inside with a lovely piece of L Ashley fabric I had and its now reversible. I love it!! And very easy to make.:D
Doing a boring job but thinking of the money!!
