Strawberry Sauce
Heat 4 fl oz water in a pan, add 4 oz caster sugar.
Add 10 oz strawberries, chopped, cook gently til soft.
Puree, then serve with ice-cream or pancakes, or plain yoghurt.
Strawberry Sauce No.2
Melt a knob of butter and add 2 oz sugar, heat til sugar melted.
Add 5 oz strawberries, quatered, and the juice of 1/2 lemon.
Cook gently til soft.
Remove from heat and pass through a sieve.
You could also freeze the strawberries today then use them for any of these sauce recipes at a later date, simply defrost before use then follow the same recipe instructions.0 -
Hi, I got 2 punnets of strawberries on saturday, I washed them and put them straight in the fridge. We've eaten about half of them but as they were quite large punnets, theres still quite a few left. I was thinking of maybe making a cobbler with them, as they've gone a bit soft now. I was wondering how I would prepare them before putting them in the cobbler, do I soften them in a pan before they go in the oven, or do I use them raw with a sprinkling of sugar? I've got the cobbler recipe from the recipe index, havent made this before, so I'm looking forward to it.

Pop them as they are, in the freezer, then you can use them in smoothies etc when ever you're ready

I haven't tried the cobbler recipe myself but I would put the strawberries in raw because that is what I do if I put strawberries in a crumble and they go very soft.0
