Many thanks, I have the cobbler in the oven now. I'm trying the grocery challenge this month and using up as much as I can from my cupboards so I didn't want to go out to buy any extra ingrediants if possible.Nevermind the dog, beware of the kids!0

next time you have some lying around try puting them in an oven proof dish and cover them with marshmallows! stick them in the oven till marshmallows have melted and just starting to go brown (a great way to use up strawberries that are on the turn too!)0

what about strawberry milkshakes? Add a bit of banana. Sieve the strawberry seeds. But they go down well with the kids at our house.
I also like strawberries mashed up with a bit of milk.......something my mum made me when I was a kid.
If you have other soft fruits, then you could do eat and mess. Merringues (sorry about spelling) broken up, whipped cream and soft fruits.I also remember the words of my friends, but I would rather have enemies than friends like youwould like to make it known that ZubeZubes avvy is a DHN, she's not dancing

Strawberries don't freeze well, they go mushy, but you can do this with them provided you have a food processor or blender that is capable of crushing ice(most are).
Instant Strawberry Ice Cream
Freeze your strawberries on a tray so they are not touching each other.
When they're frozen tip them into the food processor/blender,add a large spoonful of plain yogurt/fromage frais/cream and a spoonful of sugar(freezing dulls sweetness).
Switch on,hold on to the machine!
When it looks like ice cream-a few seconds only, scrape it out and serve immediately.Don't try and refreeze it as it will go rock-hard.
Btw if you use orange juice instead of yogurt/fromage frais etc you get a sorbet like dessert. Also you could use strawberry jam instead of sugar for extra depth of flavour.
You can do this with any frozen berries or cubes of fruit like peaches or mango.

Strawberry fool? There are loads of different recipes but really all you need are strawbeeries, whipped cream and some sugar. You don't say how many strawberries you have? Basic recipe is just to puree the strawberries, add sugar, maybe a squirt of lemon juice, and whipped cream stir it together.
This is one I have found from https://www.bbc.co.uk/recipes by Paul Rankin:
Ingredients
125g/4¼oz fresh strawberries, hulled and quartered
125g/4¼oz fresh raspberries
½ lemon, juice only
2 tbsp icing sugar, sieved
284ml/½ pint double cream
mint sprigs, fresh strawberries and raspberries, to garnish
Method
1. In a mini processor, blend together 100g/3¾oz each of the strawberries and raspberries with the lemon juice and sugar.
2. Sieve the blended fruits over a bowl to discard the seeds.
3. In a medium bowl, whip the cream to soft peaks.
4. Fold half of the sieved fruit purée into the cream until you have a marble effect.
5. In a small bowl, mix the remaining sieved fruit purée with the remaining fruits.
6. To serve, place a quarter of the fruit and puree mixture in the base of two serving dishes. Top with a quarter of the cream and fruit mixture followed by the remaining fruit purée mixture and finally the fruit cream mixture. Garnish with mint sprigs and any left over fresh fruits.
You don't have to make the puree mixture and just use about 8oz strawberries, and don't worry about marbled effect. I would put it in the fridge for a while before eating it. Sound good.0 -
Make a sponge cake and sanwich together with whipped cream and strawberries.
Make a shortcrust pastry base, fill with strawberries and chopped apples, top with crumble mixture. Bake in moderate oven for 20 mins ish and serve warm with ice cream.I have the mind of a criminal genius. I keep it in the freezer next to Mother....0
