  • Hey guys and girls. This is my first post and I apologise if this has been asked a thousand times already, but;

    I currently have around 11,000 remaining of a loan from NatWest which I have been paying off for 2 years now, but due to a change in circumstances leaving me £5k a year worse off I would like to reduce my monthly outgoings and this take up a fair chunk.

    Is it possible to transfer the balance of my NatWest loan to one of the credit cards mentioned, or are balance transfers l;iterally just for transferring balances from credit card to credit card?

    Sorry for appearing thick, as I'm sure this has been mentioned elsewhere, but a bit of human supplied confirmation and clarity would be appreciated as I'm not too hot on going on blind faith!

    Thanks

    Andy

    Firstly if you do not intend to pay off your Credit Card bill at the end of each month, then you should look at the Annual Interest Rate (APR), this rate is typically between 13-17% at the moment, and you should be looking for a card that offers as low an interest rate as possible.

    I like the suggestion you stated here as, this will be a better option to try, but, personally feel it is much better to apply for the loan other than credit card loan.
  • Hi all,

    I currently have a loan with abbey. The current balance is £8778.09 but with an APR 16.62%. I am paying this off at a set £200 per month.
    I obviously want to cut this down but should i try for another loan or get a credit card with a better rate. I currently have a virgin credit card and a barclaycard credit card with a 6.9% for life so not to sure if i would be accepted for the MBNA rate for life card? I would also have to pay a 2 month early repayment fee with the abbey loan. I've also had the problem in the past of applying for a card and then not getting the whole amount i need to transfer over in one go!
  • I followed the link to the MBNA rate for life card, filled in the application and was accepted, only to find that MBNA now offer an even better deal on their front page if you can pay back within a year. They're offering a rate of 1.9% for the first year with no fee.

    I'm unlikely to be paying back within a year so I'm not too upset about this but it probably ought to be added to the article.

    James.
