  • I always prefer Payday Loans to Credit Cards if you are actually in need of money because while they might have high interest rates you aren't trapped in the long run as long as you can pay them off in full

    What a total stupid post.

How can you even think this let alone write this drivel.
  • This is probably an impossible question but does anybody have an idea of whether MBNA are generous with credit limits, if you can ask for a specific limit when you apply or if you can get a ball park figure without going through the whole applicaiton?

I'm buying a new car and need to borrow £11,000. I have a credit limit of £12,000 on my current Tesco card which I use as every day spending and pay off monthly. I was thinking I could clear the every day spending so I'd have enough limit, pay for the car on my Tesco card (points galore!) and then transfer straight away to the MBNA card that's offering 29 months at 0% for a 2.89% fee.

I have a very good credit rating and can pay it off in the 29 months but I'm unsure whether MBNA will give a new customer a limit of £11,000? I don't really want to apply and not get enough as it could then affect the rate I'll get on a loan if I've got a card I can't use.

Lol good credit rating, you do know the figure means nothing ? Lenders dont even see it.

Why a car for £11k ? Why not a car thats a few years old, less money, less to borrow.
  • You know nothing about my personal circumastances and why I need a car costing £11,000 and I didn't ask you to question that. I only wanted an idea of whether it's possible, not a lecture on how I spend my money.

For your information that car is a few years old. It's a Land Rover which I need because I live on a farm at the bottom of a steep and rutted lane which is bad enough in normal circumstances and impossible in anything else in bad weather. My old one is literally falling apart. Is that ok with you? Am I allowed my loan now?

Who ever is recommended they may not offer you a loan, ill suggest 1, try santander. Depends how good you look from a lenders point of view, get your credit report from the credit reference agencies and go from there.
  • Hi,

I'm considering using the Virgin money transfer card as a cheaper alternative to getting a personal loan. My question relates to the treatment of the 4% fee for carrying out the transfer. I understand that it's added to the credit card balance; does anyone know whether this will also be at 0% interest for 36 months or whether there is a higher rate of interest on the fee itself?

    Cheers!

This article only lists MBNA and Virgin Money for money transfers. From my own eligibility check it seems Virgin is pickier than MBNA and my sister just got rejected on a MBNA application.

Does that mean there's no other 0% interests money transfers available to try? Or do the AA & Clydesdale offer money transfers with their 0% cards too? Are any of the others more prone to accept than MBNA or is a loan the next step?

Thankyou, Paulm002, dollars are really useful in the UK for bulk-buying tins of spam.
