Thanks ol' chum :T we can always rely on young ajax :T although I class myself as one of the more sensible mothers who doesn't believe in it. When I was a child it was more than my life's worth not to get a card and flowers for my mother and that's still the case, I think that's wrong. Needless to say I have bought a card for today for the same reason. It was mainy beacuse of this that I told my daughter when she was quite young not to waste her pocket money on me because of the commercialism. It quite upsets me to see little children buying over priced flowers just because they think they have to
...EDIT I still have a couple of cards DD made when she was at school, and I shall treasure them always

...peeweelevi keep posting and you'll keep inspired :j :j ...
...kpc I think you'll have burnt off all those crisps and a few more besides :j not that you should eat a few more though...
xxxxI wish that I could be the oldest AND wisest....sadly it's not the latterbut my time will come _party_ wooooh hoooh! Beware!!!!!!!

Late Joiner to the club, but I have been MSE since 2005, and exercised my way from 19st 5 to 16st 7 in 2006 on my rowing machine, but then overdid and stopped and got up to 18 St 1, before starting India Knight's low carb diet.
So I am now down to 16St 12 (at last weeks weigh in), and that is my off the blocks weight for this thread.
Anyone got any good low carb MSE recipes for my OH (and some veggie for DD) I would be very pleased to hear them. OH and DD have also lost a stone each since January.I think I saw you in an ice cream parlour

"My wife spotted (heard on the radio I think) the story of India Knight (a celeb of some sort) and her friend / colleague, Neris Thomas - who both had their own lightbulb moments and set off to lose weight. 1 year later they were both 5st lighter. They have a book called - Neris and India's Idiot proof diet, and a cook book (Neris and India's Idiot proof cook book, doh!) with some very nice recipes.
I like the diet (and I have tried a few), because it concentrates on the user (ie you) rather than all the food and biology. It has simple rules, which are mainly low carb, lots of water, and great flexibility in menu. Atkins/South Beach like, but more veg and less pretension
It also has a support site pigtotwig.com I think (although I haven't used it), but covers ideas for how to deal with people trying to derail you or how to handle special occasions, you know the day to day stuff we all have to deal with (kinda like DFW attitudes) and tells you to be strong know yourself and don't f*** yourself up. It also has lots of things like what vitamins to take to supplement the things you are missing (and keep you regular).
The great thing is my OH and I both just seem to have switched off wanting snacking and chocolately things - its not denying them - its just not wanting them. Also it says no low fat stuff - to keep you free of chemicals - if you want mayo get the full fat stuff and use less or less often. To keep things interesting on the palette it suggests lots of dressings and cream, ... yum yum, and as I said me, my OH and DD (13 - veggie) have lost 3lb per week regularly for 5 weeks.
We mainly have bacon and egg (omelette) or a protein shake (like slimfast) for breakfast. We make a box of salad, lettuce cucumber tomato with tuna mayo, egg mayo or leftover meat + avacado. Supper is fish or steak with cauli, broccoli, mushroom (no spuds, no rice, no carrots, no bread) - mainly ordered from Tesco.com with whatever is cheapest.
At breakfast time, I feel like a short order chef doing veggie sausages, 4x omelettes or bacon and egg.!!

Thanks ajaxgeezer, I've had a lovely day - breakfast in bed (porridge :rotfl: )
Then we all had lunch at La Tasca (paid for with Tesco clubcard vouchers - so only cost £10.55 for the drinks which can't be included :money: ). There were loads of families there with lots of young children in high chairs - very friendly atmosphere.
Best card was a homemade one by DD with a homemade poem.
