That's great news about the show IA I'll be watching and if I'm working I'll record it.

We are in a state of uncertainty as OH has finally got his posting and we're due to move however as normal life is never that simple - we have the small problem of buying and selling another house by the 31st March! SO after moving back into our house in September we have had the EA back today to take some more 'lived in' pictures, reduced the price and have it back on the market. I can still stay at my current job though as we're planning moving about 23 miles west of my job, we currently live 38 miles to the east. Just need a buyer now and we'll be away:rotfl:

On top of that I've applied for a new job within the place I work and I've got an interview tomorrow. I'm meant to be putting a presentation together but I think I'll bluff my way through!

  • Morning! Just been to do my food shopping. Thought I would be good this week and live off beans on toast and pasta all week .... yet still managed to spend £48! Has anyone else noticed that food prices seem to have just rocketed? Everything that used to be cheap seems to have gone up *sigh*

Ok, just given in and called the garage......

They are still doing some checks, but my VALVES ARE OK :D They can't say that something else hasn't been broken, but they are going to fit a new tensioner and cam belt and see if that works and then call me back.

    Cost:

    Cam belt - £225.
    Tensioner - £35
    Labour est - £40

Guesstimated about £300, but subject to nothing else being wrong and labour. That's not to bad is it.

But I wouldn't get her back until tomorrow. And they are going to call me once they know for sure.

    A little less panicked now.

this is good new Lucy! You feeling a bit better now. It's the not knowing and feeling at the mercy of other people that is hardest to cope with isn't it?

Morning everyone else, :hello: i got a surprise today... Family allowance was in, so i was completely shocked as i was sure it was next week. Normally i know to the penny/day what's coming in or out (not quite to IA's standards but close!), so i'm chuffed to get the cash early!

I also won a total of £48 in free bingos at the weekend (first time i've won in ages, and i do loads of them). I had to pay £15 (thank heavens for FA!) to withdraw £33 (£18 winnings from IC Birmingham) and am waiting on Think Bingo to get back to me so i can confirm a £30 withdrawal from them too. They don't need a deposit but i think it takes 2 weeks to get to you!

Still tis free money, although i would like my £15 back, ic one shouldn't take too long i think.

    I hope!

  • Morning everyone

Feeling very positive today - had a great weekend discussing all things money-saving with the DH and think we're in this together once and for all now! Made packed lunches for us both, made a tight budget for this week, didn't spend anything unnecessary over the weekend and planning a quiet week - should last til payday now without incurring any extra debt!

We took our coins to the coinstar on Sat and managed to get £7 off our shopping so got a weekly shop for £25 - not bad!

Spoken to OH who thought that the cost of the Cam belt was steep, but also guessed that it includes the labour to fit it. So Hopefully that will be it.

People will be along to beat you with a stick for using coinstar! Not very DFW!! Some peeps say you can enter all your change into the automatic self service tills... which is worth a try if your shop has them, saves losing 10% or whatever coinstar takes..

Personally i'd be inclined to use coinstar for convenience! we bag our coins and bank them in our DD's account, i think they don't mind as long as they are bagged up and if it's a childs account they are less inclined to object i think.
