I would say if you haven't heard anything by about midday it might be worth calling... they've got to assess the damage, figure out how to fix it and whether it'd be viable to fix it at all if the damage is severe.....Me to!!! I echo everything you say!

Hi everyone. Hey Luc, that sounds bad although it does depend on the engine design. A vectra engine is designed in such a way that when the belt snaps the damage is not terminal but I would imagine it is not good news. If you were stationery there a higher chance that the damage caused would be less than if you were moving but nevertheless it would still be significant. If it is more than the car is worth you must consider 2 things; 1. You know the state of your current car and what is wrong with it and how how it would be likely to cost you in routine mainteanance over the coming year or so or 2. Buy another car but you would in a situation were you do not fully know the material state of the new car and would therefore be at the mercy of it. Tough one but I have got my fingers crossed for you. GFDebt Apr 06 Huge Debt Now Small in Comparison

That's the thing, I'm not sure if the belt has snapped, it just looked like it had gone all floppy but was still attached to the cog thingys (it just wasn't sitting on the teeth)
