Don't know yet - just applied for one of them myself. But having had Tesco and Mint cards before now I can say they were

    1. below average

    2. allowed 100% of limit for transfer purposes

    3. Tesco was able to raise the credit limit initially given a bit too

Current debt & salary around 35k. Applied for both cards online.

    RBS issued 5.5k - increased to 6.6k

At same time applied for NatWest who I've banked with for 16 years, thinking I'd be in good position for high limit (stopped paying salary in last year).
Not impressed with £3.6k offered. Raised this with my Primeline manager, sent in bank statements and got increase to 15k - but they insisted on cancelling my £3.5k Mint. Luckily the 0% expired on this a couple of weeks ago.

Still haven't heard back from my Ulster Bank application - another 5k would be nice.

Unfortunately both Amex Platinum and Lloyds Platinum have rejected me - even on appeal - so probably time to lie low for a while

That sounds quite low. I have salary £31000 and debt of about £30000 and I have noticed the credit limits offered getting lower. M&S offered 5K and would not budge so I cancelled. IF have offered £7.5K so I have took that one, they also will not consider an increase until I have been with them for at least six months. I was thinking of making my final card a Nat West or RBS but from your experience I could get a really low credit limit. I might just stick with what I have at the moment.

I would recomennd Nat West. They ask you to request bt on application. I requested £14998, which is a high one for me. It was accepted instantly on line.

Just about to send off my signed application today. I applied online last week and was accepted instantly. No mention of a credit limit yet though. I have requested a BT of 1300 from my Barclaycard, so as long as its bigger than that, I don't really care.

    cheers

Debt-free as of 01.10.08. I will never have a CC again and I'm "in the black"

Based on the above posts, I decided to make an application online with a BT of £12k which was (apparently) accepted.

Hmmm - seems a bit quick though but.

Is it the case that the BT (to Virgin) will go through as easily as that? Well, let's wait and see. (They say it may take 2-3 weeks on their web site).

Either way, it was an easy process to follow.

You do know that NatWest, RBS, Mint and Ulster Bank are all part of the Royal Bank of Scotland group? You may be better trying another lender (one that doesn't know that you have all those cards)

ColinW,My bt has not gone thru as yet, I expect it will take a couple of weeks. Asked for transfer to EGG, will then move to savings, thank you Nat West!

    RichyRich,
Yes, that's why I was surprised to be able to get more than one card (though greedily hoped I might get 15k limit on each).
I was told on each new application that I had limited credit history with them so limit had been automatically generated. RBS application was processed first, but wouldn't take into account the 16years saving with NW, so I'm glad I applied for both and very happy with outcome. With £75 Primeline incentive received a couple of months ago, if NW aren't careful I may even consider them when looking for a new mortgage deal.
