I picked up another wheel face brush today, the newer one with the short handle for £5 that should have been £12. My older one has a long handle. I also got some megs gold class trim detailer for £3. no wheelspkoe brushes available in the 2 stores I tried I don't think they will have them as they are still in the none clearence section.

One of the better things in there was the Megs NXT interior protector for £5. I have a bottle and its excelent stuff, cleans the dash and stuff and prevents dirt and dust build up.

Only ones with stuff to clear I assume. So new stores like the one in Blackwood near Newport might not have anything to clear.
  • as my hubby works for the firm i feel i have to answer some of the criticism about the staff.

they are NOT paid a lot. they are in some cases asked NOT to do any jobs on cars that are not paid for.
for example if you want a bulb fitting they have a price for fitting it and are allocated a time.
the firm gets the money not the staff.
some managers can be very strict about what they allow there staff to go out to.
there is no code for sticking mirrors on, therefore the manager may have said to staff that any job not on job sheet is not allowed to be worked on.
this does not mean they have the right to be rude to anybody!
so as long as they showed you were the glue is that is the end of their job.

and as for being a damsel in distress, the girls in store have to fit stuff just like the guys, so that does not really go.

would you go and stand outside on the car park fitting stuff in the pouring rain. with only a jacket on(that's all any store has to provide) if you didn't have to.
anyway on with the subject after my rant.
they have some dingy in some store with the oars for £3
don't know of any others .
At last I have a signature.

    That's my point exactly;)
Also I had a similar experience at the same store when i had ordered and pre booked, a fitting for a dog guard in my car.I paid for it at the till and both me and the bloke took it outside to my car.He took one look at the car and said "this wont fit that", and walked back in.To cut a long story short the guard is now in my car, fitted by a very kind friend.I knew it was the right guard for the car as a friend has the same car etc.
The bit about me being a damsel in distress was a joke btw, and i'm sure your hubby isn't as rude and unhelpful as some of the the Halfords staff I have met :D:D

I can echo most of that.

Before Halfords charged for the items to be fitted, staff on the most part were quite helpful in that they would fit wiper blades, bulbs etc.

But having seen some of the letters that were sent into HO Customer Services, and dealing with some of the complaints myself, then you can see why staff were instructed not to help customers fit items as they were just not insured to in the event of an item being fitted incorrectly. For example a wiper arm cracking a window as it was knocked by a member of staff as they fitted the blade and snapped back with the bare metal.

Another chap spilled antifreeze down the wing of the customers car as he was topping it up, etc...!

However, there were also plenty of praise letters saying that staff had gone out onto the dark carpark to help a lone woman fit bulbs in the headlights, and assisted disabled customers beyond customer service (and insured level!) expectations.

So, I guess it's whether you get a jobsworth or someone that champions customer service:D

I usually place a cloth or something across the windscreen where they would hit and if I can't replace instantly, I put the arm onto the cloth gently. That way I am holding the arm at all times and it has no opportunity to snap back.

Usually a very good rinse with water quickly should avoid any damage. However, surely topping this up is not too difficult for anyone to do? Afterall it's now part of the driving theory test.
