Test Case Supporters

I have started a new thread as wasn't impressed with the 'Édna Bucket' thread.

Have emailed Nick Clegg my local MP asking him to support Stevens MP in parliament today. I would be interested to see here who else has done the same or similar so we get an idea of what support he SHOULD get.

I've just emailed my MP, Katy Clark for North Ayrshire and Isle of Arran, hopefully I'm not too late for it to get through.

thanks for the info. Surely if enough of us lobby our MPs they'll have to have a public hearing.

In fairness it is a public hearing, just there aren't that many seats in the gallery, I stated this to my MP but I doubt much will change, you could always write to the editors of your national newspaper of choice and ask them to ask questions as to why, I'm contemplating emailing the Sun and our newspaper here in Scotland the Daily Record, at least if reporters get into it, we all stand a chance of hearing what is going on, even the news reports are various in their reporting.
Thanks to all the competition posters.
  • If the subject of this thread (as the op hasn't made it clear) is about the concern over the small number of public and press places available at the hearing, the court is considering a live feed into a retiring room at the venue as an over-spill.
  • Hi,

I too emailed my MP for Chesterfield on Saturday to ask for his support of the motion being proposed by MP Gary Street.

My MP, Paul Holmes replied today to confirm that he would be supporting MP Gary Street.

Live feed to the internet would be better :-)

Sorry if it wasn't clear but I had just trawled through a thread full of meaningless bickering when I wanted to communicate with, as my thread title states, test case SUPPORTERS as opposed to those who join threads just to berate us. My interest, as my first post doesn't make clear, was for people who think that this hearing should be accesable to more people, to post if they've contacted their MPS to lobby support for this, as I thought it would be interesesting for everyone to see how many had actually done this, and subsequently, if it makes any difference.
  • The 11 passes were given to the media so that as much coverage of the case can be given to the consumers to whom it affects. This is still a high court test case, so does the lack of public seats within it detract from the justice being made/given out within it?

I think one of the main points of the whole cause is that the banks scale of charges should be more transparent to the customer. Why has a case with such obvious public interest been given such a small venue. I have read that the original venue was much larger.

I would have been happier, with the limited access, if the people originally involved in starting and following this cause, such as Stephen Hone, Dave and Mark from the consumer action group, and Martin Lewis were given places, as they would be supporting the public cause. The reporters will only have one aim, selling a story.
