Who has black floor tiles?

we have black floor tiles got them from B&Q £5 for 10 tiles and they are lovely we have dark grey grout. WE also have black worktops, the units are a light beech colour with long metal handles. Wall tiles are form B&Q mixed creamed coloured with the odd black wall tile. It it is a large kitchen with lots of light but looks really bright despite the black. Yes you can see crumbs etc but not muddy footprints!!0

We're off out today to look at tiles, OH reckons he saw black ones on sale in B&Q so we'll go have a look see.
We've already bought the granite ones for the hallway & en suite, from Wickes - 2o% off last month!
& at the same time I bought some the B&Q porcelain ones, to do a 'which looks best' test!
The porcelain looked cloudy & much duller, when laying next to granite, so thats why we chose Wickes.
I know it says about a sealer needing to be applied, but couldn't imagine them looking anywhere near as smart!

We have black tiles and they look great.
Was watching one of these home design programmes a few years ago and before our kitchen was installed and they suggested that the worktops and the floor should be the same colour as it makes the whole kitchen look a great deal better. We did this and yes, it does look great.
Zebidee - I'm happy to email you a picture of our kitchen but no idea how to add photos here, if you want one, PM me with your email address.Thrifty Till 50 Then Spend Till the End
You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time but you can never please all of the people all of the time0 -
Well we saw the B&Q porcelain ones...they were huge, big square things about 300mm x 300mm I think. Trouble is, they were very plain and very glossy and I think they would last all of 5 minutes in my house. The ones on display had scratches and they weren't even being walked on.
However I did see some that were textured and looked a bit like 'riven' paving stones and they were nice, but I just can't imagine it all together. Even in kitchen displays I've not seen black floor tiles in situ iyswim.
We do have a dog though so it seems to make more sense to go with dark tiles rather than light.
Ms Chocolate....I've pm'd you.
Thanks everyone.0 -
I have black polished floor tiles in the kitchen and hallway and we have light wood units and black worktops with Travertine tiles for the splashback.
However I am having a problem trying to get the blind colour and wall colour correct.
Anyone has any suggestions? I have Vanilla white walls all though the house and have a cream Roman blind with black and beige dots on, just feel something is missing (colour maybe)? Considering changing the blind if that would help?
All opinions welcome.0 -
Can I be the fly in the ointment please?
Our friends have black floor tiles and the back garden is connected only via the kitchen door, (so the kids are in and out that way all the time).
In MY opinion the tiles look awfull and grubby with all the garden traffic, as would white ones. They look great when clean, but not good in any other state. No kids or no garden traffic then go for it0 -

Have you thought of wood blinds in the same shade as your units?0 -
No, to be honest. I think becuase I have Roman blinds through the rest of the house I thought I would be best to keep it the same for the kitchen?
Yeah, LOL. I have wood blinds all downstairs dfor that reason.
But i do have blackout rollerblinds (& light but proper curtains over) in the bedrooms.
Nothing in the obscure glass & I do have a wood blind in the stairs window.
From the front its only three windows. Two upstairs with rollers (rolled up so you don't see during the day) & wooden blinds in the kitchen.0 -
I have Roman blinds front and back upstrs and dowstrs so I guess any other kind of blind is out really.
Just don't know where to go with a colour.
The walls all through the house are Vanilla white, with duck egg and browns in most rooms.
I did try duck egg in the kitchen but just didn't seem to go.0
