I bought a mattress protector from wilkinsons for my son (he's potty training). It cost around £3 at the most for a single and so far it's taken quite a beating and is still effective x0

Can I hijack this thread. I ahve a good waterproof matteress what I really need is something to put over my DD duvet, she wets quite alot and I have to wash her duvet at least 3 times a week.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Many thanks SL x0 -
I had mine from Dunelm, it's a terry top and plastic waterproof underneath. Both my sons have had them from early years and they've warn well - wee, sick, juice, it's coped with it all. I think they were around £9.
Dunelm do do, if my memory serves me a duvet protector too, (and pillow ones). I assume that the likes of Mothercare may also.0 -
Yes, I'm sure you can get duvet protectors as well, I've sometimes found them on hotel duvets. However, I wonder if another way to go would be to put a top sheet under the duvet, only tucked in at the bottom, and something waterproof between sheet and duvet. You could try one of the polyester mattress protectors, unpick the corners at one end? Or put it across the middle of the bed if she only tends to wet in one place. No idea if that would be adequate or not. And it might take a bit of getting used to: my in-laws put a sheet under the duvet cover to save washing that every time they change the sheets and it feels a bit different to just being under a duvet but it's OK when you're used to it.Signature removed for peace of mind0

I don't know if you have a Dunnes near you but I have used their terry topped ones very successfully for 5-6 years. The first one lasted over 4 years with everyday washing - it's the one that costs £15 - not the cheaper one.
One tip to dry them - I found they don't dry directly on the radiator as the waterproof backing stops the water evaporating - but put on a clothes maiden in front of the radiator they dried much better.“the princess jumped from the tower & she learned that she could fly all along. she never needed those wings.”

Debenhams sell waterproof mattress protectors. You might be able to pick on up in their 70% off sale.Amazon No:170

This is a very late reply but might help someone else.
I bought 2 from ebay for a couple of quid. They were shockingly thin when I got them out but they do work ie nothing gets on the mattress but they keep slipping at night and the sheets then slip so end up in a muddle in the bed. That drives me nuts so on balance would not recommend them.
Have been on amazon today and 2 silent night singles plus postage would set me back best part of £14 which looking at the other prices is pretty good.
Otherwise would recommend one I bought from argos which is pretty thick plastic - no terry coating, etc - but does not slip with mattress. Cost £9.99. They do a plastic sheet, duvet cover and pillow case for £9.00. I don't like them though. The plastic duvet cover slips around in the duvet cover and again drives me mad. I live in Brentwood and have a spare one. If anyone near me wants to try it you are very welcome. PM me and give me a week to reply as sometimes don't get on as often as I'd like.0 -
Just to add to the eBay debate... I got DD a waterproof sheet off ebay that tied up underneath... As she has a cotbed I didn't want a full fitted single sheet... She had it about 12 months and it was very waterproof... It just completely fell apart and split in loads of places... The spare one I got for the bed at my Mum's house did the same and she doesn't sleep there that often!A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...My Fathers Daughter wrote: »Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.
