When we went we booked on to the open top bus to get a good look around and quickly realised that virtually everything is in walking distance. So avoid the bus tickets and put on the comfy shoes and spend the spare on the black stuff.:rotfl:

    Hi,

I went to Dublin last weekend and visited the Guiness Brewery, for a full paying adult it was 15euros, 11euros for students and 9euros for kids. I'm not sure if it's included in the cost of the hop on hop off tourist bus. The local buses start from 1.15e and from the centre of town to the Brewery it is that price. We walked there and it was a LONG way (definately needed the Guiness!) and the prison is even further from town on the same road but definately worth the visit. 4e for adults and 2e for students.

We went to Pintxo's tapas bar on Eustace St in Temple bar, food was delicious and downstairs they had a free salsa lesson! I think the food prices in Dublin are shocking so be prepared to spend alot of money. The GBK and Pizza Express (aka Milano in Dublin) vouchers should work fine, we didn't use them but thats what our pre-trip research suggested.

Yet another vote for Kilmainham Gaol, which we only visited by default as several attractions were closed during January when I went. It's an amazing atmospheric eerie place and the film set for lots of films, including the Italian Job.

We felt the Guinness experience was a bit of a let down, apart from the amazing view at the top. I think I was expecting a real brewery not reconstructions and audio-visuals.

I don't know about any other threads that mention getting into Guinness Storehouse without paying but this thread that you picked up is almost 18 months old.

If you look back at kelda_shelton's post (dated 6/2/2008) it says she went to GS and couldn't get in without paying.
  • Hi, Get the 16a bus from the airport instead of the "skybus", it go's right into the centre, takes about 50 mins and is loads cheaper at 6 euro each
