thanks for the info about the storehouse being free! Thats really useful!
I'm staying at the Avalon House Hostel with my mother from the 4-6 februatry - this is near St Stephens Green - can anyone suggest a good but reasonable priced place to eat at night, that's not too far away - my Mum has ME so I don't want her trailing too far at night after having done the tourist thing during the day.0 -
Third vote for Kilmainham nick, most memorable part of our visit.. apart from an afternoon in Gogaharty's doing the tourist thing and sampling many Guinness's whilst the band was on.0

Aungier Street is a little up from everything, on a corner with a few good food prospects nearby on Aungier Street and further down on Georges St.
Govinda's is pretty close, it's a Hare Krishna cafe with a large or a small plate of whatever they have going on that day for very cheap.Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76

Eeeeekkkkk.....cod, spuds and mushy peas £20!!!!! Wish I could go there 'on business'!!!!0 -
I have to say - did go to fire restaurant and it was REALLY nice! But yes, a bit pricey but the food was delicious and the actual restaurant itself was beautiful and the service was top notch.
Alos went to Govindas the next night (these two balanced the price out quite weel as it was cheap!!) and being a veggie I loved the food.
Side note - it seems the guinness peeps have cottonned on and there was no way were getting in without paying. They had welcomers at the door directing you straight to the pay bit and when I said I couldn' drink guinness so I didn't want to buy the ticket to get the free pint at the end we were told you must pay to get into the museum area.
There was noone checking tickets but with the welcomers at the door there was not much way of you getting round them - I suppose you could check out the shop forst and then go through but think that may be seen as sneaking in! You do get a discount if you show your city sigtseeing bus ticket tho
(For info - you should book online any trips/sightseeing buses - I saved 20 euros when booking 2 trips for two people - irishcitytours.com)
The jail was v good by the way.0 -
if you get a day or 3day pass for the tour bus, it includes various discounts on attractions, restaurants etc.
also if you visit the guiness factory don't join the ticket Q. it is infact free to visit and walk all around...but everyone joins the Q and pays and gets the 'free' pint at the top with their ticket...when really you are cheaper (free!) just walking in and buying your own pint at the top if you want one. and this is allowed, its not sneaking in or anything!
Can anyone confirm that the factory visit is free as there website says £150
