ok, now please don't turn on me!

I bought and registered a new car in Nov 2009. So it turns 3 in Nov 2012. do i need to have the mot completed then, or does it need completed before it turns 4 ie - Nov 2013?

It will need an MOT on (the day) or before it is 36 months old.

And there's nothing stopping you from getting it done up to 1 month before it's due date. This can actually be quite a good idea for your first MOT because if there are any problems you may be able to get them resolved before the warranty runs out.

thanks, i thought i had up until it reached nov 2013, since its still 3 years old then.
  • i wouldnt use the car until you get it motd.

If it's only 2 years old, it doesn't need one for another year.

I think most on here are being a bit Harsh, I brought a new car in 2010 andcouldn’t remember whether it was 2 or 3 years for the first MOT. and as aresponsible driver WAS doing the research to confirm 3 years. I would say hewas being responsible....and it seems being criticized for it. We are alwaystold at work "if you not sure ask" must be great to be perfect:cool::cool:
