Car accident -who's fault?

I had an accident 3 weeks ago, the party who hit my passenger door came from a bus lane into the side of me. She is now saying that it was my fault. The bus lane was active and she should not have been in the lane. She admitted fault in front of another party and said she was making a u-turn. Now she is denying and changed her story. Who is at fault? I was driving in the correct lane, she hit me from a bus lane.0

Presumably if she's saying it's not her fault, she's changed her story? From your version of events, it's her fault, but her version won't be the same, will it?
It will depend on who the insurers believe. The damage to the vehicles may help. Are there any witnesses? Is the bus lane covered by CCTV?0 -

If you set aside the fact it was a bus lane, just say it was another lane, do you still say it is her fault? What part of her car hit you?
This is all academic on here just hand it over to your insurance to sort.0 -

My OH has worked in motor insurance as a claims handler and has often talked about this sort of thing. Basically, if someone is doing something illegal it does not normally have any effect on the outcome of the claim. For example, if you pull out of a side street onto a main road and you hit a speeding car on the main road then it is still your fault. Same thing goes for bus lanes, yellow lines etc.
A lot of the time the insurance companies cant decide whos at fault and just go 50/50. This is especially the case if you crash on a roundabout - it almost always ends up 50/50.0
