  • It's astoundingly easy you know...

Rip the DVD to your hard disk (dvddecrypter - free) as one iso file
Drag .iso file onto ipoddrop.exe (also free and astoundingly fast, works with lots of file formats.. and can be found here)
Drag resulting file into Itunes and sync

    I use DVDFab Platinum

    http://www.dvdfab.com/

Its not free but there is a fully functioning 30 day free trial.

Such an easy program to use. Tried it for the first time last night and am really impressed at how user friendly it is. Like all DVD copying programs it's quite slow - about an hour for each film but it just chugs away in the background.

I know I was after a free program but I'm even tempted to buy this as it's only $50.
  • Recommend handbrake, lots of ipod presets and cuts the mustard

Yup, have to agree. I use Handbrake for my ipod nano and it works a charm. Just choose from a list of screen resolutions, click the source button to select the DVD drive and off you go. Best of all it's completely free!

WinAVI iPod/PSP/3GP/MP4 Video Converter is software for MP4/3GP file conversion of portable video device such as iPod/PSP, It can convert almost all video formats, for e.g., DivX, XviD, MOV, rm, rmvb, MPEG, VOB, DVD, WMV, AVI to iPod/PSP or other portable video device, MP4 player or smart phone. It has an unmatchable speed and high quality. And it supports transport your video files to your iPod/PSP directly.

I have used this to convert all my DVD's and AVI files to my ipod touch. Just unrar this file and run the exe file to install it, try the other files in the rar for help on registering the software ;)
