Sorry if this has been asked before but does anyone know the best way of downloading DVDs onto Ipods?
I've just brought an 80gb ipod for my daughter and she would like to add some of her DVDs to it, I really don't want to have to buy them from itunes, especially as I've already paid for them once already!
I've done a search on the net but only end up getting confused with all the different software out there and all the different claims about how good each program is compared to the next one.
Ideally I'd rather not have to pay for a program
Thanks in advance for any advice.

I use videora it's free, you can download it here
I've not tried converting DVD's only avi files but I think it can be done using this program.

I convert my dvd's to mp4 format using dvdfab platinum. You can get a free trial download from their website. It's really good. It has an "ipod" option then you just add the converted mp4 file via itunes. I can highly reccommend it

The free trial of Magic DVD Ripper gives you five free rips. Don't waste 'em.

I use DVDFab Platinum it will convert a dvd to many different formats including Ipod Mobile Phone formats and PSP XBox etc many more, and make them region free and other benifits too...:hello: Lets all save a £ or two, lets all earn a £ or two, and lets all enjoy spending that £ or two wisely.

Thanks for that, I'll give it a go as soon as the Ipod arrives.
I wonder if I have to decrypt the DVDs first - like I would have to if (;)) I were ever to copy DVDs.0 -
Recommend handbrake, lots of ipod presets and cuts the mustard0

Yes, in videora's 'DVD to iPod guide' it says that there are two parts to the job.Petty_Vagrant wrote: »I wonder if I have to decrypt the DVDs first - like I would have to if (;)) I were ever to copy DVDs.
First copy the movie from DVD (using decryption) as a file on your hard drive.
Then convert that file into iPod's format.
