I usually do the following:
Add 3 tablespoons of corn oil or sunflower oil into a hot wok and add a good handful of chopped spring or ordinary onion with some chopped garlic.
Toss quickly in the wok.
Beat an egg in a small cup with some soy sauce and pour into wok, stirring continuously.
Add the cooked rice, frozen peas and turkey. Keep stirring, if it starts catching, add some water.
Allow to warm through and add other vegetables.
Add half teaspoon of sugar (instead of msg), pinch of salt, two tablespoons of light soy sauce (dark is too salty).
Keep stirring, add more water if required.
Once everything is cooked through, serve immediately.
Yum!Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!

I've got some rice leftover from last night and have defrosted some of the leftover turkey from xmas to make a sort of turkey/egg fried rice. Will also add some frozen peas and veggies etc but I'm wondering what else I could add to stop it being too dry, IYKWIM
We usually have curry sauce or chicken balls in s/s sauce with egg fried rice from the chinese but I don't have any chinese curry sauce here and the only "chicken balls" we have are chicken dippers :rotfl:
Would love some ideas and inspiration please

Homemade chinese is 100x better than what you buy from a takeaway and, as said before, you don't have a raging thirst after eating some of it!
This is a very simple chicken dish but still tasty.
1tsp dry sherry or white wine
1 tsp salt
2 tsp cornflour
1 egg white
12oz boneless chicken breasts, skinned and cut into strips
6 tbs veg oil
7oz beansprouts
half teaspoon sugar
2-3 spring onions, sliced (optional)
Mix the sherry, half tsp of the salt, cornflour and egg white together well in a bowl. Add the chicken and stir together to coat the meat thoroughly.
Heat 4 tbsp of the oil in a pan/wok. Add the chicken and stirfry until completely cooked through. Transfer to a serving plate. Add the remaining oil to the pan and heat. Add the bean sprouts and stir fry for a minute or so. Return the chicken to the pan with the remaining salt and sugar and stir fry for a minute. Transfer to the serving plate and garnish with the spring onions.0 -
This chow mein tastes very like the one I get from my local chinese:
Quantities of each ingredient tend to be on a what have I got? or to taste basis they don't need to be exact.
Sliced onion
Slice of ginger finely chopped
Clove of garlic finely chopped
Handful of benasprouts
Noodles cooked as per packet instructions and drained
Soy sauce
Cooking oil
Fry the onions ginger and garlic till the onions are just soft. Add the beansprouts and fry for 1-2 minutes. Add the cooked noodles and continue to stir fry till combined with the other ingredients, sprinkle generously with dark soy sauce and stir fry for a furthe rminute - serve.0 -

Trying to save some extra cash by making our own "take aways", managed to make Bang bang chicken with success but still can't get the BBQ ribs right? also made a nice chow mein. Most online reciepes taste nothing like the take away so really looking for some authentic takeaway style food.
Anyone want to share there receipes?0 -
